Where to go from Square One??
I would like a little guidance on where to go from here. I am coming to heli's from RC airplanes. I have a really old sim (Realflight G2) that has heli's on it to practice on and I am currently trying to learn to hover and not crash and then fly. This is where I'll stay until I get proficient. I also have a new xieda 9958 4 channel and have already busted the tail motor, spares on the way. I got a KDS 450sv in the box waiting.... I learned how expensive flying planes into the dirt can cost and the down time.. don't want to repeat on Heli. I want to learn what all these terms are I see, how to set up and program the radio that came with the KDS. Where can I go or what materials are out there to start the learning curve on all I need to learn. I know absolutely diddly squat about gyro's, pitch/throttle and etc... I do not have an instructor so this is learn on my own and on the sim. Thanks in advance for the commentary. By the way.. the KDS manuals really are extremely poor or these birds are for experienced fliers...

You may find Andrew Griffith's article in the AMA magazine MA useful: http://www.modelaviation.com/helicopterguide
Also check out IRCHA http://ircha.org/index.php?pr=Pilot_Training
Click on Pilot Proficiency Program (PPP) on that page and you can download the whole program. Very useful for establishing goals when learning to fly.

RE: Where to go from Square One??
Thanks again to all the replies.
Following everyones suggestions and actually reading and studing, I managed to perform my first run up with excellant results, and the great part was understanding what was going on and knowing how to fix the setup issues. Newbie excitment here guys.. Got some more tweeking and such and hopefully after enough run ups are completed a hover attempt. The sim is getting a lot of exercise too. Thanks for the help, with the RTF setup out the box, the first run up would have been a disaster. Ya'll already knew that, lol
