I don't know about either,, but you can check them out in the great new product guide. Click on Product Guide on the top of the page. Then you can select helicopter, radio, etc.

Both are popular choices. There are lots of good choices available depending on your personality. I like things to be simple, and am fairly agressive pilot, so i like the JR 652 ro 662 (baby brother of the 8103) and i like wild aerobatics, so more power is important to me. I started out with a TT39 powered raptor, but found i needed more power after only a few months. depending on how fast you learn and your personality you might want to consider a 50 sized version of that heli.

I just got an 8103 Heli version and look forward to using it. Get the heli version so you can also fly planes if you want. The price is awesome on the CP30, for an ARF it saves you many hours of building. I am building the voyager 50 and hear it handles nice, but I have some work ahead of me. I have to paint the canopy too! The guys at Heli Proz swear by the 811 digital servos, but a larger 1800 mah battery is needed, but they are only about 32.00
The 50 heli will cost a little more, but not near as much as the 60 size, GOOD LUCK

Default rappy & 8103

Regarding the JR 8103, consider the basic version without the digital trims,
Try flying one first before you convert to this new trim system, I find it difficult
to adapt to; [digital trims] after many years of using the mechanical trim system. You have to
guess where the actual trim position is, or listen for the center position signalled by
a louder beep in the sequence. This can be disastrous when resetting a heli
to a new configuration when in flight or resetting your tail servo. The center
position is diagramed on a graph, not easily accessible in flight.
I suggest you shop for a good price on the arf rappy as well.
Depending on your location, these prices can vary, even considering the
shipping costs with the sale. Good luck on your decision, the rappy is a good
choice, when you factor in the accessability of parts, support and local help available.
I had 2 pilots in our club switch over to the R30, and put their more expensive
'japanese machines on the shelf, to ease the cost of learning the basics and
advancing to 3D maneuvers. I have 2 japanese [30 & 60 machines] on the shelf
as well. We save as much as 200% on a single repair with the raptor, we average between
20-45.00 in repairs per "contact event" Good luck with your purchase....skyhawk mich

I have been flying the 8103 with digital trims for several years now. It is a great radio for the money! I also have a JR 783 and 642. All were very good. In the 28 years that I have been flying I have flown all brands and the JR is my favorite!

For about $20 more you can get a Raptor 50 from Helikraft. You might have to ship parts back to them to get warranty service but it's the least expensive 50 you'll find. Here's what you get:

TH4851-K11 Raptor 50 V2 Kit plus TT50H engine + 49BB (header tank and TT constant tail drive auto rotation gear included) + muffler USD 370.00

Just a thought. That's what I'm about to get in a few days. I heard too many people say the 30 was always running hot and lacking the power you really need, that you'll have with a 50.

As for the radio, I'm going with the Airtronics RD8000. $300 I was gonna get the 6000 Super but, again, for about $20 more you can go ahead and get 8 channels. Better to get as much as you can first instead of paying more later. For example, if you get a Raptor 30 now it will cost about $200 (engine and all) to upgrade to a 50 later. $20 now or $200 later.
Just my inexperienced .02 worth.
Good luck!

I haven't seen the 50 or 60 in an ARF only the kits with or without engines, mufflers, etc...
Everyone has said it's better to put it together yourself anyway though. But I'll be checkin' on your tip on the radio.
Thanks
Bryan

The kit is pretty easy, lots of parts initially, but you just open one bag at a time, follow the pictures, post a couple questions if you get stuck, and put it together and it is done in a couple evenings.

6XHS 6-Channel Computerized System With 4-S148 Servos $249.99
If you could, get a 7 or 8 channel Radio. The 6XH is limited ( 3 point curves )
You will out grow this one .

Futaba 9C would be the best then RD 8000 or Eclipse 7

Just my opinion

Forget the T6XHS for helis. It is extremely limited and you will outgrow it very quickly. If you want Futaba, 7C is a minimum. JR 8103 should be awesome too (although I haven't used it)

Raptors are good (Make sure you get a V2 and not a V1)

I absolutely love the JR helis. It is true that they are more expensive and the parts are harder to get but they are lovely machines.

I believe 120 deg CCPM on T6XHs is found in the PARA menu. It must be set for heli use first (also in the PARA menu).

I don't have a problem with digital trims. I don't have to look at them in flight. If it reaches the end then it makes a loud beep. Anywhere else and I am not interested. Futaba systems with digi trims on throttle (Some Jr radios retain mechanical trim on throttle) means that I can just fire up my engine and it will remember the idle position. I never have a problem with flying an out of trim model after the first flight!

I have the 8103 JR, it's great, digital trims are great, you can program how much (trim rate/ click) it will move, and it stores all trim setting for each model. Never have to completely retrim if you want to fly something else. The other radio's have the same capabilities though.

I would be easier if/when you get the setup-up radio/heli that they be the same manufature i.e. JR 8103/JR venture 30/50. It makes the set-up faster and easer. Theirs not as much guess work invalved. I don't know of any Heli that has the Futuba or other radio program set-up listed with the Heli.

Just some more usless advise.

Larry
