Can I jump straight to a 450X, I do know my flight limitations...
Hello, I found a awesome price on a used 450X, that has been checked out by one of my RC heli friends. I have never flown a RC copter, but I have flown RC planes for 10+ years and can do some plane 3D, so I have good stick control on my TX.
... I have a RF and FS one simulators, I can fly the gas and electrics heli models, from the small twitchy ones to the larger smoother ones; in both simulators pretty good. I can hover, do fff, fly a regular large oval pattern, figure 8's, do regular turns, pirouette turns. I can do forward and backward flips and even inverted hover on the sims. The price on the 450X is so good and I always wanted to give Helis a shot.

I say go for it! But what I would do is put training gear on the heli and go slow while you learn to hover. Jumping to a 450 to start probably isn't what most people do because if you crash it can be expensive. The smaller heli's like the mCPX are more forgiving. You can crash and a lot of times there is no damage or if there is it's just a link popping off or something. Another important thing is if you have friends that fly helicopter's then you can get help with set-up and advice when "little" go wrong. Good luck!

Absolutely! I've seen people start with a 90 sized nitro helicopter. It just depends on who you have as a coach and how deep your pockets are. Edit: Before the electric "revolution" a 30 sized nitro was the smallest helicopter you needed to start with. None of this coaxial or micro stuff we have now.
Now the question is: Is that a TRex 450X or something else? If it is a TRex 450X that thing should be close to 10 years old by now and they are definitely out of production with very few parts available. If it is something else, disregard this paragraph.

Problema solved. Since I got such a good price on the Blade 450x, I will buy a Blade CP X RTF, since it's the same price as the BNF and I'll sell the DX4e. I will learn on that small little twitchy sucker, If I master flying that little twitchy machine that requires constant correction; then when I step up to my 450x which is way more stable and requires more subtle corrections I should be just fine....

i'm not sure of your helicopter skills. but if you least know how to hover i don't see a problem. just start in a big open area and take baby steps til you can get it mastered.
once you learn the controls then go enjoy flying it.

my first heli was the blade 400 did i wreck it yes did i repair it yes go for it . good luck with the trainers i took mine off after the first hop in landing and crash!

Along the same line as having a 450 as a first heli I just recently ordered a walkera v450d03 from eheli.com.
I have been flying rc for a few years, been practicing on helis on my Real Flight simulator. My question is does anyone out there know if there are spare {repair} parts available for order here in the u.s.?
Possibly align parts.
