Default Max Main Blade length formula?

I read/hear that I can use main blades as long I want as long as they can not physically touch the tail blades. Is this the final determination. Engine used, type of flying (3D or not) also will effect my choice I'm sure. I have purchased a used (older) XCell metal frame but did not come with blades or directions. Hope you guys have the answer. No local area experts for me to pick their brain.

Default RE: Max Main Blade length formula?

Sounds about right. Engine will be a big factor, what size engine is in it?
