Default Help w/ HB Mark2 for a less than newbie

I'll start with the obligatory newbie apology for my ignorance, but I'm looking for any and all advie on the HB Mark 2 ( http://hobby-lobby.com/honeybee2.htm ) I just purchased from hobby-lobby. I have no RC experience at all. I was at the RC field yesterday and I was blown away by the helis. I figured I'd buy something to fly around the yard to impress my toddler son. If I take to the hobby and out grown the HB, it a good trainer for my son. My son LOVES helicopters, so I can't wait to fly one around the yard!

I'm looking for any advice at all on:

1. Flying tips.
2. What spare parts should I get right away?
3. I got 2 650 mAh NiMh batteries. What should I get for the longest flight times?
4. Any set up things to look out for?

Thanks in advance,

DAK

If your looking for longer flying time, go with lithium batteries. Make sure you get a charger that will charge lithium batteries, don't try to use the wall charger that come with your heli. You should put a heat sink on your motors if you go lithium, the motors will last longer. I use a 7.4 volt, 2100mah lithium on my fixed pitch heli, works great and I've never had a problem with motors burning up. Some people use 11.1 volt lithium batteries, but it seems to be a hit and miss whether it burns the motor out (from what I've read). I use the Hobbico quick field charger, it's cheap to buy and works great. It will charge all three type batteries (Lithium, NiCd and NiMH). You should have a new charger anyway, those wall chargers are junk.
