RE: Updates
Hi
The last thing you do before lifting the throttle is to HOLD FULL RIGHT OR FULL LEFT ON THE RIGHT CYCLIC STICK. This will save the LEVEL position the heli is sitting to the CPD4. The swashplate should be stable and not moving after you HOLD RIGHT OR LEFT on Cyclic...My sensor on both my Falcons sits on the horizonatal stabalizer. I am not sure mounting to the bottom is a good idea but if it works, good. I have never had a blade strike to mine. Moving it forward on top of boom closer to the front would work. You must keep it far enough away from the motor so as it will not get mixed up from motor heat. After lifting off, the heli should be level but it may drift...however it WILL NOT TIP OVER...you should be able to just use the right cyclic stick trims to get rid of the drift...carefully control your throttle and keep it high enough off the ground to safely make your adjustments on first flights...you should do just fine assuming everything checked out...when you hold heli on its side during calibration, you should get more cycles then you reported. 2 is low...I always get 4 to 9 cycles when I do it over greass...then set down level, do the right stick hold full left or full right and release...lift off and enjoy...

RE: Updates
Thanx, Lethal. That's exactly what I was looking for and exactly how how I was planning on setting mine up. No problems with this configuration? Nice bird, by the way and a clean install of the co-pilot. I see you also have the Z sensor installed. Have you tried to go inverted with it yet? Would be interested to see how the system handles that in real life. Thanx again. Cheers!

Now thats how it's supose to work!!!!!!!!!! Full stick to the right or left works fine to set it up. As for any problems ,not really just me :0)~. Got alot of wire trimming to do next.

RE: Updates
OK new update, flew at work this morning, cold and windy, only problem is it must be picking up the motor heat when it's so cold out so I just twisted the FS8 sensor to have two point sideways between the rear legs so instead of it being it set like a t it's now an x. Just tried it out back in the dark and now it's not trying to go backwards. Tomorrow I'll try it in a field.

RE: Updates
Yeah, I was wondering if you'd have problems with the motor so close to the front eye. Sorta the same issue I was worried about with the battery pack on my HBK2. If I mod a new battery tray, like the Trex, I should be OK, since my motor is a top mount. What was the symptom like? It would back up?

30... Sheesh! We don't ever get temps like that during the day. Maybe in the middle of the night during the heart of winter It's about 77 here now. Ahhh... my favorite time of year, but we sure pay for it with the summers! [:@]

RE: Updates
Nice installation of the FS8 and the sensors. Been flying 2 Falcon 3Ds with CPD4s since I started flying in March this year. Over 60 flights now and a single crash which was an ESC failure in flight. CPD4 still brought the heli down level on its skids with minimal damage. I am interested in how well the FS8 works with the 2 sensors for inverted flight whenever you complete that task. The CoPilots sure make flying easy and I love mine.

RE: Updates
I got short changed on a Trex 600 kit that came with spectrum ds821 digital servos. I'm missing 2 double arms that were supposed to come with the 3 servos that came in the kit. Any help would be appreciated in hunting down 2 double arms with 30 mm hole spacing for those servos .

RE: Updates
Hi Guys.
Just finished reading most of the old posts. I will be flying my first collective pitch heli soon (Honey Bee King II) and was wondering if anyone has successfully used the Co-Pilot in this heli with a Spektrum DX7 2.4Ghz radio?
From what I've seen it's:
a) not compatible with CCPM heli's (which I think the HBK-II is) and
b) not compatible with the Spektrum DX7
Can anyone confirm either of this?
I'm coming off a Blade CX-2 coaxial so the Co-Pilot would be a great help.
Thank You!!!
Dave

RE: Updates
The CPD4 will work with the DX7 and receivers, but only on a CP heli. I have a couple Falcon 3Ds with CPD4s and I love them. Not sure about the HBK heli. If its CCPM, you would want to use the FS-8 copilot also from FMA Direct but it will work only with 72 mhz radios and not the DX7 2.4 ghz stuff. Good luck. I went from the CX to the Falcon 3D and the transition was easy using the CPD4. Have over 80 flights and one crash on my Falcon 3Ds. CPD4 really works and you can trust it to save your butt from crashing everytime.

RE: Updates
Thanks Ralph,
I guess I'm out of luck since:
A) I'm using a Spektrum DX7 and
B) The heli is a Honey Bee King-II and is CCPM
Looks like I'll have to learn without Co-Pilot.

Well I know you are frustrated...the DX7 is a super radio so you will have lots of control over the throttle and pitch curves nevertheless and to smooth things out a bit dial in some differential which will help alot on the cyclic right stick...Try about 40 % negative differential to start and dial in more if your right stick is still really sensitive.
