Default Building a starter Heli

Hey there,

I'm building my first 6 ch heli and I need some advice on which lipo battery to get.

I watched a video about a guy who was doing a build and he was using an 11.1v 2200 pack and was wondering if that would be good.

also if you could please provide a link to were one can be bought.

Thank you.

a 2200 is very common, good power and decent wieght.
www.hobbycity.com www.hobbypartz.com
i would say atleast a 25c pack would be good for sport and 3d.
at hobbycity, people are getting zippy`s and turnigy`s. at hobbypartz i and other`s are useing the blue lipo.

its on order

would the manual that comes with a kit even say?

I would also like to just get everything all at once and not have to wait for 10 different things to arrive in the mail

you haven't said what size heli you're building or even what make (makes a slight difference to where you go shopping!) ! it will make a difference to the voltage used!! but for a 450 size (T-Rex, B400, etc.) yes an 11.1V 3 Series 1 Parallel anywhere from 1800 - 2200 mAh are suitable!

yes the kit manual will have suggestions for what components will be suitable!

have a good look through the threads here, you are bound to find something of relevance to your brand of heli

enjoy and keep asking the questions

got mine yesturday, just need to finish up the wire`s.
i have ran two batteries through it already, seem`s pretty stable. it should though, it`s heavier than my blade400.
i need to find a motor that actually fit`s too, the one i`m useing now is smaller in diamiter and has a longer shaft than the exceed motor xheli offer`s with the heli. but the pinion only run`s on half the main gear.
here`s a few pic`s.

this heli is actually really smooth.
i`m quit suprised that a 73 dollar to my house heli doesnt have a major vibration.
even when i hit idle up it doesnt show any vibration`s, i should have bought one a long time ago.
my blade400 has been one vibration after another, the EXI so far is turnning out to be a very nice purchase.

let me know if the exceed alfa 400 motor that xheli suggest`s you get with it, actually fit`s of not.
the motor i have is smaller in diamiter, and has a longer shaft. but the pinion only run`s half way up the main gear.

thank`s matty.
it is a pretty decent heli for 73 dollar`s to my door.
i am haveing alittle issue with a tail vibration in idleup though, i`m not sure if it`s the blade`s or the belt slapping the boom.
i have a few more batteries chargeing to try and track down the vib, it`s flies perfect in normal mode.

tail issue resolved.
it was a combonation of a loose tail blade grip, and the blade`s.
i`ll have to try and balance the blade`s, which i cant see being out, they are radix.

if you get the metal frame version`s, becareful when you pull you`r wire`s. the inside of the frame`s havent been sanded, they`ll cut you`r wire`s quick.
also check all the screw`s, makesure they are loctited.
but all in all it`s a decent heli.

i`m not sure how they match up to the t-rex`s, i never had a t-rex.

i have a hdx-300 3800kv motor and a 40a esc in the EXI Le, which is all metal frame. it`s pretty heavy which make`s it pretty stable.
but the punchout`s and throttle pump`s are slow.
i`m use to the blade400, it`s really light and fast. the blade400 react`s alot faster than the EXI.
the carbon fiber one`s should be lighter, so the motor/esc combo you are looking at should work.

Well its here and I am trying to put it together but it doesn't have a manual and I cant find one on the net so any pics would be appreciated

also I believe the lipo I got is wrong as it sticks out pretty far from the heli as its not fat but long
