1st Heli

Hi I am brand new to the RC Heli world, I am in to Cars more. What would you suggest I have done a bit of reaserch I would like a micro heli 4-channel and all that stuff I have found this one:Revell Proto CX and it seems good. Is there anything else you would suggest thats better. I dont really want to spend alot so thats why I like the Revell because I dont know if heli's are my cup of tea. Please help.

Hello and welcome. I'm not sure about the Revell brand but the biggest thing to look at as a beginner is support and parts. Have you looked at any of the Blade coaxial or fixed pitch helis. They are well known and parts are available and cheap. As far as cost, the term "you get what you pay for" is evident in helis. Often times the cheaper helis don't fly well and if you break something the parts are nonexistent. I would recommend checking out Blade. There are many good used helis out there too. Pm me any time if you need any help or advice.

Buy the blade scout cx! Its the same price as the proto but its a much, Much better heli! YOu wont be disapointed with it. There are parts avalible at almost every local hobby shop and i have one that has survived alot of crashes! Heres a link http://www.amazon.com/Blade-Scout-RT...words=scout+cx

Thanks, -Sean<br type="_moz" />

RE: 1st Heli

If you want to really get into helis (if you save up some money) you could try a blade mcpx! They are collective pitch helis but when i learned helis i realized that it takes pretty much no skill to hover a coax micro heli. Its a great heli and it will not let you down! Ive flown mine in 15 mph winds and crashed it numerous time with no damage! It really taught me to fly larger helis like the hirobo 50 and other 600+ size helis! For rtf- http://www.amazon.com/Blade-mCP-X-V2...ywords=mcpx+v2

bnf- http://www.amazon.com/Blade-mCP-BNF-...ywords=mcpx+v2

Ithink any model blade makes is great but the mcpx exceeded my expectations! Thanks, -Sean

Btw if you really want to see if helis are your ''cup of tea'' then i recomend the mcpx to get the real heli expierence!<br type="_moz" />

RE: 1st Heli

I agree. Coax heli wont tell you if "helis are your cup of tea" ...or not. However, the mcpx will.

If all you really care about is to have a toy to fly around in the living room and never progress to flying larger helis outside...then a small coax will probably suit you fine.

I started out with a 30 dollar cheap IR coax heli. Found that I was bored with it after a couple hours as I could make it do whatever I wanted the first day or two of owning it. I then moved up to a FP (fixed pitch) micro in the Blade mSR. That was much better...but really cant fly it outside unless there is absolutely NO wind.

I then got into CP helis...first was a 450 and that was a huge step up. I never really got past taking off...hovering around...landing as the headspeed and those blades were very intimidating. This crippled my progression for about a year or so.

It wasnt till about 2 or 3 months ago that I bought an mCPX and it changed my world as far as flying a CP heli goes. It flies exactly like my larger helis and its soo durable that I wasnt afraid to actually start flying it. Since then I have flown all of my larger helis now...all the way up to my Raptor 50 (600 size).

So...if you really want to give yourself a chance to know if you want to fly helis or not...mCPX is the way to go. However, you wont be able to fly it out of the box with no experience. So, buy a trainer cord for the DX4e that comes with the RTF mCPX bundle and at least the Clear View RC SIM. Clear View has a model of the mCPX that flies a lot like the real one. Learn to fly it on the SIM first...then move on to the real thing. You wont thank us enough for this advice!

goodluck

I think so. As a beginner, when you choice the first helicopter. I think you should also consider whether it is easy to find the spare parts for it. I am not fimiliar with Revell brand your mentioned, so i don't know wether it's suitable for you. You can also consider syma helicopter. i have playing with it several years, feel well. Now the first 4 Ch of syma has coming out, S800G. And it isnot expensive. You can refer to Syma S800G.

I agree with ATV and Scasari, Blade mcpx is a great little heli. It's durable, you can find parts almost anywhere, and you can fly it out doors, comes with a pretty good controller that you can use on other heli's, flips, rolls, inverted flight...it does everything. Make sure if you buy one you get the V2 model.

Respectfully I disagree with Szwjh, sure it's only $35 but 50-60 minute charge time?? and you can only fly 33 ft away from you?? But to each there own and I'm glad he 'feel well' about his purchase.

Couldn't agree more with goggles! Any Syma heli is bad in my opinion! You can't fly outdoors you can't buy parts at lhs and it takes zero skill to fly.

you can find some parts for the symas on hobbypartz.com

S800G is nice, i think so. And the new arrival. About the spare parts, you can ask people, there are many place you can find them . Well, if you say so... maybe I got lucky then !:) I had the Syma S107 model and had much fun with it. I don't know about the other models of this constructor.
Anyway, now i've been trying the new, as they call, quadri-copters and they are amaziiiing ! has someone tried the MX400 ? A friend of mine let me try and it is terrific ! IMO it is a bit too expensive for a toy but if you can afford it than you will go crazy :)

RE: 1st Heli

Well here's my two cents worth......i have a mcx2 from blade and have learned alot from it......you can learn orientation....do figure eights.....learn about hovering.....backwards flight.....it will go in the directions that a traditional heli can but you wont get the lean in to the turn effect and snap that the mcpx offers....i agree with goggles and atv.....get a blade copter.....i am moving up from my mcx2 to a mcpx or nano and am glad that i was able to learn nose in and orientation with a milder heli.....i also recommend a spectrum radio....i have a dx6i and like it alot....it will work with any bnf blade copter and has several model memories....also you cant put a price on a quality simulator.....i have real flight and you can get it on ezpay from tower hobbies....comes with a usb transmitter for computer and everything......but in the long run you must go with what is comfortable to you....God bless and hope you have a great experience with whatever you choose.....Bp

Ps. Keep in touch with these guys in this forum....people like atv.....goggles.....krash....etc. They will be a big help to you in the long run..:)

Maybe you can have look at the syma brand. S800G is the first 4CH of syma, with Gyro, syma S800G is an easy to fly mini 4 channel helicopter. This helicopter is designed for indoor flight only. The double rotor design helps stabilize flight and makes it easier to control. The 4ch RC helicopter with gyro auto stabilizes during flight and allows you to go up, down, left, right. forward, backward, left aileron(roll), and right aileron(roll). This helicopter has a dual servo design. And it is very cheap.

You can see some images of S800G from the attachment.

RE: 1st Heli

get a single rotor 4ch
YES they are harder to fly than a co-ax but they fly like a helicopter not like a toy for small children
http://www.myrcmart.com/gw-great-wal...ay-p-3761.html
from this site parts are super cheap and just about every heli vendor sell parts for it under one brand name or another<br type="_moz"/>

Dear all,<div>I am first timer rc user my last experience was 10 years ago with small rc cars now i want to join the rc helis world but am a little bit confused about which brand to buy and which model specifically, am also a little bit confused between coax and fixed pitch and all these termiologies however i started to read about them.
<div>I have read all ur past Replies but i got confused how to start also i dont want to start with a boring small toy then spend money again to get something more professional i want something intermediate not very simple but not that professional</div></div><div>

Ok, well first of all, do not not buy a syma or any other Cheap toy helicopter you may find on the internet. You will want to go to aprofessionalhobby shop or order from Horizonhobby.com . If you want something that will challenge you, Irecommendthe Blade Mcpx or nano cpx. A coax heli (in my opinion) reallydoesn'ttake much skill to be able to hover without crashing.I think you may be looking for a Fixed pitch or collective pitch heli that IS flybarless so you have some stability outdoors in wind. What size heli do you think you may be looking into buying? I alsorecommendbuying a flight simulator if you are serious about learning. If you jump right in with a Fixed pitch/collective pitch , you will need one. Good luck-Sean<div></div><div>Heres the links</div><div></div><div>Mcpx, RTF http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/blade-mcp-x-v2-rtf-BLH3600</div><div></div><div>Nano cpx RTF http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...-x-rtf-BLH3300 BTW, The Mcpx and Nano cpx are collective pitch helis, they are capable of doing 3d.</div><div></div><div>And a good flight Sim- http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...x5e-RTM40R5510 </div>

RE: 1st Heli

I think a 4ch co-ax like the blade cx2 or mcx2 is great for starters...the controls are the same as a 4ch fp heli but more stable....helps the beginer get the feel of the flight controls. once you achieve the controls for the co-ax's movements and get the feel and visual aid then move up to a FP heli..my opinion thats what I did.....It helped me.......As I myself is still learning a FP heli...then I will go to a CP.
