I'm 36. Started flying helis only this year. Been into cars for more than 20 years. There is nothing compared to the rush of your first forward flight.

RE: how old r u heli pilots?
I continually hear about VERY young pilots who are in a "class" of flying all their own. I saw a 14yr old flying a 42%twin engined or something or another with a carbon fiber prop and what must have been 20GRAND in a trailer and equiptment. Guess who bought all that equiptment, and transports it? Sure its impressive to see such young kids doing such advanced pilot skills, but keep in mind, its the parents who are footing the bill. How many of us are there who bought our own equiptment and it took us until mid 30's to even AFFORD a helicopter? Could we have done the same back when we were 9, 10 or even 14? I'll speak for myself.....Anything I have done in my life from autobody paint, to BMX racing, was done at the TOP level after not much time. It isnt the ability that I am impressed by in these young pilots. Its the willingness, and ability of the parents of these young kids with 20GRAND toys, to spend it on a remote controlled planes/helis for thier kids. Without their parents money what would they be doing at 9, 10, and 14? Probably riding a BMX bike, dating young girls like themselfs, drinking their first beer, and learning what its like to be a kid. If your parents have DEEP pockets and want to live throught their kid doing things they only wish they could have as children, thats fine, and if you have the money to send that SAME child to a Ivey league college thats great also. But if you think a kid having a 20thousand dollar airplain/heli at age 9, 10, or EVEN 14 is doing them good in the long haul....Ive seen REALLY rich kids, and I know what they do in their 5,000SQ. FT homes that were given to them after JUST scraping by at DU.....and it isnt productive. Making a kid think high end R/C just falls from underneath the sky for the asking, is going to make the rest of his life a VERY RUDE awakening when he gets to the real world. Oh wait, maybe the 500,000 education can fix that too? I have no doubt it can! Because after all, money buys happiness right? RIGHT. Maybe it isnt the kids fault at all hes going to be totally shocked when he realizes what his parents did to his perception of the world when he grows up? And then the parent of that kid gets what they had coming.....whatever that might be. And the sky is the limit, when money is no object, right!? Good luck working in the REAL world junior![&o]

32 here.
Started flying fixed wing back when I was about 13 or something, but gave it a miss when I discovered girls, bikes and drinking Been back in the hobby since Feb 2000 (got back in with a helicopter) and started flying fixed wing again later that year. Don't think I'll ever give it up again

Girls, beer, and bikes.....stole your innocence at 13 huh? HOW TRAGIC!!!!!!
God forbid, it could have been something BAD that took away that inocent little boy at the tender age of 13! Just think, without a outlet like R/C, you might have fallen victim to GAY, DRUNK, CATHOLIC PRIESTS,(375 of them TOTAL in the USA alone) who are A VIRGIN to all, at age 60, except to small young boys!
Hows that beer, girl, and bike sound now?

I think its HIGH time I relinquish my presence in this thread, please send all complaints to me private message center. With the help of our God in heaven, perhaps alcohol can be outlawed again here in the US so the younger generation can get back to the CHURCH, for CLEANSING!

32. Flew planks for a while when I was 18 or so. Got out of it for a while. Now I have a nice big park near me and I fly every weekend! Got into heli's this spring. It's truely addicting!

Check your math randy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Has your mother changed your diaper lately. Cause at those figures
you are some were around 3.353 yrs old.
We have 3600sec in a hour X 24hr = 86400 sec in a day X 365 dayes in a year = 31536000 x 34 years = 1072224000 sec .
And yes I goofed in post #67 on the days in a year but trying to typ and fly the raptor at the same time is hard

The booze (no beer....hate the stuff....I'm a spirits man!), girls and bikes still sounds like a much better plan to me
