Default OC's HELICOPTER GATHERING DETAILS

Hi Everyone,

Here are the details for OC's HELICOPTER GATHERING which takes place on September 19th 20th and 21st. The event will be held near Atlantic City N.J., at the Atlantic County Sky Blazers RIVER BEND facillity. We wish to express our thanks the Atlantic County Sky Blazers club for all their help and cooperation. The program for OC's HELICOPTER GATHERING is simple. There will be three days of flying, lie in, tellin and showin. The crap there should start getting pretty deep by about Saturday around 10:00 A.M. in the morning.

NO PILOT FEES OR REGISTRATION FEES

We will have flying demo's performed by Alan Szabo Jr. with his Thunder Tiger Raptors. You won't be disappointed watching Alan go at it for us. He is one of the top RC helicopter fliers in the world. All things considered, I personally believe he is the best helicopter flier anywhere at this point in time. You decide for yourself when you see him go.

Jeff Green from Hirobo will be here to show and demo their line up of the new helicopters and equipment. I saw a guy flying a new Hirobo helicopter at the Hirobo cup in Del. a few months ago. The way it flew there was very impressive to say the least.

There will be old helicopters shown and flown. At the very least we will try to make some of them go. I'll have my heliboy from the 70's there. If it won't go, I'll throw it in the air for everyone to see. There will be other old iorn here also. We will all see if any of it still flies. You may be surprized, or afraid, as the stuff comes up to speed. There will also be some static displays as I understand it. You will truly be able to appreciate your equipment and helicopters after you see the stuff we flew back in the 70's.

We may even have a surprize turbine powered helicopter flying a demo or two. I recieved a heads up on this early on, but have not confirmed this demo. I am fairly certain we may see one or two of these wonderful machines there.

There will be night flying going on for all you vampires out their. Our own Karl Bender, who is a pretty good stick in his own right, will be there with you night fliers. Better bring that insect repellent for this.

We will offer a build and setup Clinic for the new fliers who attend. Any seasoned fliers can use the clinic also if they wish. It will be conducted by Jeffery Hildebrant on Saturday and Sunday. Jeff has good sound experience in the setup and training area. He is always ready to assist, without hesitation, any RC helicopter builder and flier. He will answer questions, explain setups, or assist in the training process if it's requested. I intend to have Jeff show me some of his setup procedures. Most of us can always get a little something from another in many cases.

FREE RAFFEL FOR ALL WHO ATTEND WITH A FLYING HELICOPTER

We will hold a free raffel Sunday about 1:00 P.M or so for everyone who attends the gathering with a flying helicopter. One ticket only will be issued to each person who brings a helicopter to fly. The list of prizes are as follows:

First prize

A Raptor 30 with a 46 OS engine and many metal upgrades. It will be ready to fuel and fly with an Airtronics RD 6000 Super Radio system, CSM gyro, Carbon fiber blades and nice looking graphics. One of you guys will look good with this.
Donated by OC Bob

Other prizes for the raffel will include

An RD 8000 Airtronics Radio system Donated by Airtronics

A 560 CSM Smart Lock gyro system Donated by CSM company

A 420 CSM Smart Lock gyro ststem Donated by CSM company

A 200 Csm basic H.H. gyro system Donated by CSM company

2 Model Avionics Throttle Jockey governors
Donated by Paul Beard from Model Avionics

A used Vigor helicopter in good shape with an OS 61 engine
Donated by OC Bob

An original X-cell helicopter with an old radio and engine installed. Condition unknown but looks very flyable.
Donated by OC Bob

An old heliboy helicopter
Donated by OC Bob

An old Revolution 40 size helicopter with some spares
Donated by OC Bob

A used JR 5000 T gyro system in good working order
Donated by OC Bob

There may be other items which are promised for our raffel. They may come in late. If so, they will be offered in the raffel if they come in. We contacted Futaba and JR, and got no response from either. Nothing from them boys. Not even a hello. Sorry.

We will have food and cold drinks for all who attend, and their guests. OC's HELICOPTER GATHERING was put togeather for everyone who attends to enjoy our hobby for one weekend with others. Not a flashy event, but it will be a good one. Make it if you can. Most will be glad they did.

The event will be covered by Rotory Mag. with Mike Mas himself handeling the photos and interviews. Mike and I have been good friends for almost 30 years. He has made many contributions to our hobby throughout the years. I am pleased he is covering the gathering. He is a pal.

Incedently, I OC Bob will be conducting the crashing and rebuilding clinic. I have the easy part. Hope to see many there. Saturday and Sunday should really cook.

Hi Guys,

Everything is set for next weekends gathering. Now if the hurricane justs keeps it's current projected path, it will be clear sailing. If not, this will be the biggest hurricane party the RC helicopter hobby has ever seen.

Hi Everyone,

It's not looking real good at this point for weather. The projected path of the hurricane is now set to hit here directly between Friday and Saturday.

I would not move the helicopter gathering event to the following weekend for rain, but a hurricane, may be a different story. We will make the decision Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Well everyone,

We had no rain dates and no excuses. Never figured on a force five hurricane forcasted to come through at exactly the same time as the event. It now looks like hurricane Isabell will hit us directly or indirectly.

We will keep everyone posted on the event change as it happens. At this point, it is looking like we will have to move the gathering to the following weekend on the 26th 27th and 28th of September.

Sorry for any date changes if we make them. We may simply have to do it. Should this ***** Isabell come calling, it is out of our hands. We all hope for a shift in the high pressure, which will push Isabell harnlessly off shore. More then the gathering, a pressure change could save many lives. Wishfull thinking I am certain. If not, there may not be much left here on the shores of N.J. MD. and Va. not damaged or destroyed.

You guys will know the story as well as we do as the week progresses. We will keep you posted as things develop and change.

Well guys,

We still can't make an informed decision on the hurricane issue yet concerning the helicopter gathering event. If hurricane Issy goes the way they it's projected, we may be out for Friday, but good for Saturday and Sunday.

We will make the call tomorrow afternoon. I hope for the sake of the people on the eastern seaboard it keeps dying out. To hell with the helicopter gathering, this would be welcomed relief for the people in it's projected path.

In any case, we will know our plans concerning the gathering tomorrow afternoon. And we will post it on all the forums. Still hope to see many of you guys come if we can still have it this weekend. You really will be glad you made the trip to join us.

OC's HELICOPTER GATHERING IS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
September 20th and 21 this weekend

OK all you gorillas, Friday is out. But we will have a get togeather somewhere if the weather is bad Friday. Either at my place of business in Millville N.J. about 30 minutes away from the site, or somewhere for everyone who shows up on friday.

Saturday And Sunday are on, and the gathering will go. Good or bad. We should be pretty good for weather for Saturday, and Sunday should be real good again. So I'll see you all there Saturday and Sunday for sure. Friday we will publish phone numbers to get a hold of us to meet up somewhere if the weather is bad. If It clears out we can go out on friday afternoon and tune up.

So come on down to the gathering Saturday and Sunday for sure. See you all there I hope.
