Default Gyro issue (gy-502)

Hi all, this isn't strictly a heli issue but hopefully some one can help. I am using a futaba gy-502 to provide stabilisation for the gun on my tamiya leopard 2 tank. The issue I have is that despite setting the linkage limits on the gyro past the limits of the elevation when being stabilised the servo suffers spring back at the limits, ie it will move to its maximum position up or down and then settles back slightly.

This leads to the next issue if the model moves such that the limit of the servo is reached then when the tank moves to a level position the gun doesn't move back to being level.

I'm currently using an analogue servo, would a digital servo improve the situation?

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.
