OS 46 in a Raptor 30
I'm currently flying with an OS32, can I replace it with an OS 46 without any other upgrades?
I would guess that the mount and probably the fan would need to be replaced, but what about the blades, boom, gear ratio etc?
Thanks
Dean

RAptor 30/50
Hey Dean.AFter you left A guy showed up with a Raptor 30 with a OS 50 in it.He did nothing else.I asked him about changing the gears, boom, belt, and blades but he said all he did was adjust the throttle curves and pitch curves to tame it.When did you get a Raptor?

However, you'll need a new engine mount. It's also a good idea to upgrade the blades & tailboom/taillinkage/drive belt (600mm blades). There is no need to upgrade the gears, but it is an option....

Hi TVAILLANCOURT, we may have met in Strathmore, but I'm not the Vario rep.
I was set-up about 3 tables down from the kiddie pool (hovering area). If you were there on Sunday, I'm the guy who had an engine failure and did my first very poor auto onto the road.

Another suggestion, take the OS .50 SX-H, NOT the .46 FX-H (.46 FX-H stock carb is not well designed)

The OS 46, while there have been many that like them. They are not the greatest engine in the world. Also, as mentioned, if you just drop in the bigger engine with no other changes, you will be overpowered and would almost have to run a governor. If you do this, I would highly recomment the 8.5-1 gear change.
Might I suggest a 39 sized engine. There are a couple available and it is a direct bolt in replacement.

I was hoping to keep the costs of the upgrade down, but it looks like that is not a great option.
I fly at 3500 ft and would like something with a bit more power. I guess I'll look at the 39's or maybe upgrade to a Raptor 60.
Of the 39's that are out there, what is recommended?
Thanks
Dean
