TX Chan ?
Hi All,
This sound a little dumb but ... Why do you need a 6 chan TX when you on have 5 servos to control? Is it for the gyro? What is the AUX on the RX pack used for and do you use it from the TX?
Thanks

RE: TX Chan ?
Thanks, But what about the AUX port on the RX? I wanted to know what it can be used for like lights or something else. I can't find anything in the JR652 TM about that. Since I bought the Raptor used I'm sure about what model RX I have.
Once again thanks.

RE: TX Chan ?
Generally speaking, all channels above channel 4 are considered an AUXillary channel. So what AUX are you talking about? 5, 6, 7, 8, ... etc. Channel 5 in HELI mode is typically the gyro sense/mode control. It is only used IF the gyro has that capability (some don't). Since channel 6 has been designated as Pitch control in HELI mode, it's pretty much an AUX channel that is spoken for.
Channel 7 is can be used for controling a throttle control device if you have one onboard.
So in HELI mode, you may have channels 5, 7, & 8 available for anything you want to control. Channel 6 may be available if you are flying a fixed pitch heli where the vertical thrust is controlled by RPM (throttle via ESC) as opposed to collective pitch.
Typically, you need a TX that has the capability to control the channel (ie at least a 7ch TX to control up to ch 7 at the RX).
In order to use your "aux" channel, you need to determine which channel it is. After that, determine if your TX has the capability of controlling that channel (via switch, dial, stick, etc). If that channel is currently NOT in use (ie Aileron, Elevator, Throttle, T/R rotor, Gyro, Pitch, etc), then you can use it for anything you want (within the capability of your system) ... the sky's the limit.
Good Luck,

RE: TX Chan ?
On the RX it has a port label gear and then rest of the norm ports. So now I've corrected myself what can the gear port be used for? My gyro is pluged into another port. I should be able to use gear on the tx to control something correct? If so do I need to add a switch to the tx to control it. The only way I see to control the gear is with reproraming the tx mid-flight. I might be wrong. Can I add more channels to the TX?

You can use 2, 3, 4 channel TX's on 7,8,9 channel RX's. It's just that you have no control over anything plugged into those channels.
You never mention what model TX you have ...
Good Luck

RE: TX Chan ?
Most people buy the higher channel radios for features such as programable mixing, preset mixes, trim step, a gyro and governor menu, more pitch and throttle curve points, etc and not only for the "extra channels"
Typically a gyro gain or heading hold/non heading hold mode switch is assigned to channel 5 and channel 7 finds itself used for a governor, retracts, lighting, a camera trigger or some other "nice to have" trinket.
It also may be interesting to note that a Futaba 9C is only 9 channels in PCM mode and 8 channels in PPM (or what people call FM) mode and even then its only on/off
