How do YOU fly! - Every Heli Owner Vote
Just curious as to how everybody uses their sticks. From the videos I have seen it seems like alot of the pro's fly grasping the sticks, I have always flown with my thumbs. Does the grasping method give you more precise control? Curious to see the comments. -

i also want to ask the same thing, i'm a thumb flyer but as i've been seening alot of pros doing the grasping method, i wonder if the grasping method is better, i have small hands (wat do you expect from a 15 yo?
) and the grasping method feels uncomfortable, i seem to fly ok with thumbs, diong loops and rolls right now with my blade cp.

I fly thumbs. Thats how I started to fly my planes and when changing to helis it was easier to use the same technique. There is no right or wrong way, its just what you learnt with.

I've flown thumbs for 35 years but for a time I was flying, or trying out with, the Pioneer RPV's at Pt. Mugu and there they sent you to school to retrain you into the thumb finger grasp. It wasn't hard to do flying their stuff because you were rated on accuracy not stick banging, your moves were slow and accurate. It was interesting but not fun, as anytime you make your fun your job.

I am not sure that one way of holding the sticks gives you more precision than the other especially if it feels uncomfortable for you. I have always flown with my thumbs and I think that the level of precision is dependant on the person's fingers not how they hold the sticks.

I "pinch" the sticks as well.
For me the pinch method felt like more accurate control and thumbs didn't feel as accurate.
Different strokes for everybody on this one.

I picked up a copy of RC Heli last week, that also happened to have an article on this subject in there.
