Default Problems and Solutions

Actual conversation overheard from pilot to crew chief
P "I tried it in auto and it worked fine"
CC "Yeah
P "I tried it in manual and no problem there either"
CC "OK"
P "But when I put it in official mode, everything went blank"
CC (after climbing up to the cockpit while laughing as quietly as possible and looking at the switch) "I'll make a note of that sir. Auto and Man work fine, but nothing worked in OFF mode!"
TRUE STORY!

When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered
that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the
problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 Billion to develop a pen that
writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface
including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300C.
The Russians used a pencil.

P: Noise coming from #1 Engine compartment. Sounds like little man banging on engine compartment door with hammer.

S: Opened #1 Engine Compartment Door. Little Man fell out. Removed Hammer. Replaced Little Man. Closed Engine Compartment Door.

Airspeed, altitude or brains. Two are always needed to successfully complete the flight.

You know that your landing gear is up when it takes full
power to taxi back to the pits.
