Thanks Dantley, I've seen a few of your flights on a few different platforms, definitely holds weight coming from you. I'm feeling pretty confident going into this maiden.

Got two nice flights in today with the new addition of crow. I'm running 80mm flaps and 5mm crow and I definitely like it more now. Can't really explain it but I just prefer the higher angle of attack approach - feels more natural. I also noticed that it won't bounce anymore either. I know cuz I came in fast enough once that prior to crow it would've bounced for sure. Instead it just landed and stuck.

So there you go - it's all a matter of taste.

I maidened mine last week. Unfortunately the first landing was a ''Snap Landing''. Deceleration was much faster then I expected (100 mm or 4 inches landing flap). Nothing happened but my next landings were way too fast what resulted in bumping and some damage to the nosegear.
After studying the messages in this forum I will reduce the amount of flaps for my landing configuration.

Regards Walter

Good evening,

That Video was my first landing with a model jet last year. After several other flights I came to the conclusion that it most probably wasn't a stall but a wing drop because of too much elevator and aileron Input. For my next flights I reduced the amount of aileron and rudder considerably. It's well possible that I applied some rudder during flare because of the fence just beside the runway. The effect of "Dutch Roll" could have been an additional factor.

I will give you more Information when I have time, but I love the plane. It flies just great!

Regards, Walter

Very nice flight, slow flight looked excellent, & landing seemed to be very predictable & as slow as any jet I've ever flown. Thank you for posting!

not bad could have been worse...plane is built like a tank...yes with the full flaps throttle management is requiered..i never chop power on the flash or lightning until one wing length..flare and hold it off...lands slow and smooth..it will bleed off speed very fast on final if you come in high with the nose up and low power...you will find the sweet spot..

Pat

Was a rough day with near 90 degree 15mph winds, there is a bank just to the right of the strip too, I'm probably mid stick on the throttle all the way to 10' and then reduce the power. You can see in this video even fat with fuel it pulls and turns really tight, yet its designed for big smooth fast turns...its a brilliant aeroplane.

Roger that .. Great Airplane

On observation that clears it up for me when I watch Dave Wilshires setup with the big flaps and no crow he comes in with a flat approach and at times a little nose down until the flair. When I first had my UF set up like that I was bouncing like a basketball. But looking back it was because my approaches were like most of my other jets I've flown with a slightly nose up attitude on approach.

When I reduced the flaps and added a little crow my landings greatly improved. I think it is a complement to this planes versatility that you can set it up for either type of approach you prefer.

Nice flying Dave!! Love those spins, looks like the UF handles it all in stride.

Got the part and all is ready to go again! I really appreciate your help with that.

Thanks again,

Bill B.

On another note, does anyone have any pics of their flash's in the new schemes? I'm curious to see everyone's opinions about them.

I know a lot of people are flying the UF. I have for the past several months. Has anyone found the ideal placement for CG and amount of flaps and crow for landing?

How are you guys fine tuning the exhaust end of your double wall pipes inner tube to be 100% centered with the outer? There are tabs there that keep it close, but mine stays about 1/16 to 1/8 too far to one side
Thanks Jay

Not to sound harsh, but there are 121 pages of posts here and the subject of flap deflection, crow/no crow has been discussed thoroughly. Probably best for you to wade through the posts instead of starting the discussion all over again. Basically, the manual CG is fine (look back a couple pages for Dave's picture of where he likes the CG) and crow/no crow will never be resolved - it's all pilot preference.
Regards,
Gus

Never had a problem with it not centring. But if there is no other force pulling it off, mark and adjust the tabs. I have always just lifted them with a screwdriver and made each one equal by placing an allen key under each.

Yeah it moves all over. Even bouncing around in the car heading out to the field it dropped down closer to the bottom edge of the outer pipe. I use a scre driver as Dave said to bend the tabs back. Wish I had screwed wood blocks in there when I had the pipe out of the plane.

For mine back together and currently n the road to North Carolina for First in Flight. If I had more time I would feather in the paint with an airbrush and add the yellow, but good enough for now.

Thanks man. Yeah I recently sold the molds I made for the Blaze. No time for scratch building anymore.

Do you have a block under the tail? The elevator control horns can be touching and it will lift the hinge and tear the foam
