Just a few pictures before the first flight last week.
I hope to make pictures or a video this weekend of the second flight.

My UF is ready for maiden on Sunday. I ended up needing 3oz of lead in the tail because of the lighter TamJet pipe. All up dry weight is just a hair under 21 lbs! That's with a smoke system! She's really going to move with the 160SX! [8D] Looking forward to flying the Flash again!

21 lbs with a P-160? Good grief - you have built a rocket ship, not an Ultra Flash! Anybody have a radar gun there? Would be intereseted in how close you get to 199.999!!

Gus

160 SX
I had a 160 in mine for the first twenty flights, then i sent it in and while it was serviced i used a 120SX. Didnt really notice that much difference in all out speed. Takeoffs were a little shorter, but i was surprised at how little difference it really made.
While i had the 160, my friend had his 120, and people watching could not substantiate which was faster. Both are fun, is the bottom line. Enjoy.

I went with the 160SX because I had it lying around. There is video on YouTube of David Shulman flying my old P-120SE powered Flash with a Titan SE powered Flash and the difference was minimal.

Hello everyone,
In the manual its mentioned that I need to get the inner thrust tube to at least 8 mm to the outer thrust tube. To acheive that I need to insert the pipe into the bell mouth only 5 mm which is too little. At the end, My setup ended up with 15 mm to the outer thrust tube. I didn't think it would make any difference, what do you think?

I got five flights on my UF this Sunday. The plane flies incredibly well and feels more precise than the classic Flash! My first landing was a mess as I wasn't anticipating that the plane would float as much as it did! It lands a lot slower than my classic Flash did. Good thing I was on a 7000' runway! Subsequent landings only used up a few hundred feet. This plane is a winner!

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
7,000' of runway? Could we borrow 50' of that so we would have 700' here in Colorado?
Seriously, congratulations on the flights. I'm planning on going to Phoenix the third week of April, so hope to catch up on the UF flights that I'm missing here due to wind, fog, temperature, etc., etc.
Regards,
Gus

MMmmmm Why? All Flashes are the same. 15mm is really too much and you will lose some thrust, ok from running and cooling though. With your carbon bell mount does it come through the rear wing opening former much?

Dave the inner thrust tube is in the bellmouth 10 mm as mentioned and the bell mouth is flush on the bulkhead

I can see that CARF has the Graupner DES 707 servo on their "combo" page for the UF, have any of you experience with this servo in the UF (or any other plane for that matter...) ?

Strange! Looks as mine, I'll go and look... Maybe your fuselage tail cone was not trimmed as much and is longer.
My tail pipe was only inserted 8mm and looking at my model the outer pipe is 1.5-2mm back from the tail cone, so these mm add up.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
the tailcone does not change anything because the outer pipe has the 2 clips pre set from the factory. the problem is you have to pull the inner thrust tube very close to the outer edge of the carbon bell. my first flash i used 1/8th rivits and the holes were almost to the edge of the thrust tube. on my ultra flash i used 2-56 machine screws with a much smaller hole and attached the screws with blind nuts turned upside down on the carbon bell mouth. after i tightened the screws i put a drop of CA on each blind nut to hold to the carbon. with this set up my thrust tube only goes into the bell mouth about 1/8th" and my space at the tail is 7.5mmas per instructions.
