Hey scOtt,
You totally stole my idea there
Now I have to order more magnets so I can do mine all at once as well

Don't overglue on assembly or you will have a mess once the magnets go on & sqeeze the excess glue out.

Flash is almost ready for a run up.
Just have to hook up the flaps, ailerons, set up all the throws and to CofG.
Looks great I reckon. The build was alot of fun.

Check out what Shui ( www.shulmanaviation.com ) hooked me up with [8D] ..
these are the new smoke/fuel saddle tanks from CARF for the Flashes ( regular and UF)
Its a super tight fit, but it fits, bypas and all ... im in the process of rerouting some of the cables ...
on another note, i just saw my elevator hinge is lifting up [&o] .. bumped it likely on a landing as the horns are scraped .. I'll fix it for now, but i'll feel better ordering a new elevator for the long haul ... anyway, the its an amazing flying jet !

They look great! What is the capacity of each tank? I looked all over their website and cant find it. Do you have a direct link to the product page?

Do you think you may have a cg issue with the tanks that far back ?

I'm not sure on the exact capacity, but I'd say definitely around 24oz or more per tank ... And yes, they will about balance out the fuel in the mains... If anything. a tad tail heavy on take off and during flight would be no problem ..

I see some holes in the inlet duct on picture #2.
Is this because of air starvation to the turbine?
A friend of my removed a "normal" size FOD screen to a P60 size FOD screen on his P160SX powered UF.
Somehow there is a noticeable top end speed difference in a positive way.
Seems the turbine get more air or the bypass seems to work better.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Hello all,
I have been following this thread and I am half way through my UF build at the moment. I don't recall much conversation regarding best powerplant so I may have missed several threads. Just seeing Didier mention a P160 I am intrigued to hear peoples opinion. I have a Jetcat P120sx that I bought specifically for this model, I also have a Jetcat 160, I was set on using the P120 as I know most people use this engine, however, having seen Ali Maschinchy fly his with the 160 WOW what a machine. I know Comp-ARF recommend a maximum of p120 but just wanted to get a feel for how many people are flying their UF's on 160's I know the throttle stick works so it doesn't have to be at constant full power but wanted to get a general idea about the P160, any thoughts guys? And sincere apologies if this has been covered on here before, but I cannot find reference to this topic.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

a flash flies great on a P70, they are a ball with a 120, but you won't stop smiling the whole flight with a 160, and you'll be surprised how much ON time the left stick gets

Well that is pretty much to the point!!!!
like I say, I have seen one with a P160 fitted and that thing REALLY moves!!!!
Are you using metal control arms on your servos on the 160 powered UF are are you using HD plastic?
Steve

Yes, the UF will fly fast on most power .. 17 - 37 lbs .. all good .. but its about how quickly it gets up to speed, how fast it will climb vertically ( or not ) and also when pulling through tight maneuvers, how much power it will have to plow through the air without loosing too much airspeed. Having flown with the Rhino at 37, I personally could not see flying with any less .. and im saying that not breaking 199.9mph ...
Someone asked about the cheater/vent holes on the bypass... I set those up so there would not be any potential to starve the engine of air ( not that i had an issue, i just set it up that way from the start) . The FOD screen on the Rhino was slightly over the lip and would reduce airflow around the outer case of the pipe through the bypass .. There is no air resistance like this and if anything it will dissipate any air pressure that's there from the nose gear opening and help with cooling also ...

A Rookie II is around the same speed +/- only a few mph (with a P160SE)
Measured with a Stalker Pro gun, and in calm wind

I've got a JC Titan SE in my Ultra Flash. It is a blast!!!! Stick in the fun position for most of the flight. Just have it on the ground at 7min. I am running the main and wing tank with 48oz worth of smoke tanks. Ali had a blast flying it this past weekend at the best in the west jet rally in California. He helped me out with the sweet new CG position as well. Slow roll, belly in/out knife etc etc are effortless now. No yanking on the stick to keep the nose up
Thinking bout running the full bypass and new JC p140 in my new UF that I ordered yesterday.

I have a K-140 in mine and another guy at the field has a P-160 in his. They are pretty equal though.
I do have some concerns as far as airframe longevity and durability, has anyone had any issues when running the bigger motors and keeping the left stick up on it.

It will be a week or so till I fly it again. Sent my 12x in for the upgrade and a severe cleaning. Us California flyers are desert rats
