My money would be on the cap or aluminium ring joint. Are you filling the tank? Can you half fill the tank and stand it vertically with the cap up. Does it still leak?

I first noticed this when I wanted to do pre-season inspections on my jet and had fuel in the belly of the plane. Fuel tank was only about 1/3 full at the time. Don't know why I had no emptied the tank at the end of my flying season. I will have to go back and do the tank filling a bit at a time to see if I can narrow it down.
I will let you know what I find out.
Thanks
Joe

Finally, afther the long build, wet field, work and everything else that came in the way i did the Maiden today!!
One wordt SUPER!!
What an great plane and so easy to fly, really rock solid!!
Did 7 flights total today, got to fiddle a bit with the CG, cause she's way nose heavy and the Jet-1A nose gear does not lock so 6 out of 7 she ended up with her nose on the ground.
Think there must be an restriction some where so unfortunately she's on the building table to get the "child diseases" out. I'm using the jet-tronics one way electronic valves, the gears are one way so air in spring out, any one any suggestion? when going gear down the nose gear kinda bounces out, not an solid gear down to lock??
Afther i pick the bird up the gear falls in lock no worry's so an big to me.
Fur the rest, the sadles drained nice equally, the CAT-130 hopper worked flawless, power box smoke setup is to Cool, every thing really worked flawless
All and All big thumbs up on this one!!
Cheers,
Ed

About time, we have a big jet meeting tomorrow and I have more to maiden.
How tight is your closed loop wires? Pull the leg forward against the free movement and the wires should still be slack. Don't use rubber bands to hold then side ways either

Congrats,
I had a similar problem with air up, spring down nose gear not locking. I finally figured out that when I was deploying the gear, my air speed was too high. I learned to slow it down with flaps then deploy the gear. Did not have a problem after that.

3 out of 4 locked, one failed to lock
It also helps to get her nose up that high to almost an stall and the dump the gear but this is not the way it should be
I'm afraid i have to bite the bullet and go shopping…...
But what an blast to fly this bird!! An absolute brilliant pice!!!

You can also get this problem if the bearers are not absolutely flat, so when you tighten the gear down a slight twist develops and introduces friction that can stop the gear deploying, just a thought.

Hi Mike,
Don't think that's it, if the bird is on the stand and i deploy the gear, it come's out with one big solid "clack" and locked.
The nose leg just seems not to handle the push/resistance from the flying wind
Send an e-mail to jet-1A see what they got to say about this.

Our Classic Jets event yesterday was full of UF models. I test flew two new airframes and helped out with another's final trimming. Turbines in the five I can think of were P-120's and 140's

I finally got my maiden in today. Had a steering issue that only presented itself right before take off speed was achieved which led to a side skidding takeoff and of course the steering issue was experienced upon roll out on the landing with the added bonus of absolutely NO BRAKES!. A testament to the ground handling of the Flash in that with all the skidding and no brakes there was not a scratch on the wingtips or the rest of the plane for that matter. Really curious where the air leak is as both the gear and brakes where extensively tested in the shop and I was extremely pleased with how long the system held air and how little air the gear needed to cycle. It would still cycle at around 20psi. After the flight I filled the air tank back up and could hear the air leak when full brakes were applied and watched the air gauge drop fairly quickly but couldn't pinpoint it at the field. Glad there was enough air to get the gear down to land. As for the flight, it Just needed a little up trim and a click of aileron. Flew great. Looking forward to getting it back up once these little issues are resolved.

Glad to hear you got it up afterburner! I am so slow...
Yesterday I did most of the nose gear. First I discovered the gear mounting plate was way off center in the fuse. Then after fixing that I found I could not get the nose gear door to fully close with the door standoff at its minimum height. I shortened it enough to allow the door to close and then the gear hangs up on the door. So another simple task becomes a bear! I know it is just me but now I call it the "CARF effect". I did use 3mm packing under the gear so removing that may do the trick. But it already sits nose low due to the main gear extensions I had to use.

Husa, It's always the little things that seem to take the longest time to correct and when they come back to back it just makes it harder to get motivated to finish it. At least that's the way it ends up for me. I remember the days of staying up on a Saturday night trying to finish up a .40 size ARF for a maiden the next day. Now unless it's for an upcoming jet rally I just say it can wait.
Here's the take off roll of the Flash. The landing looked pretty much the same but went further down the taxiway to the right due to no air left for brakes. Could have probably aborted the take off but we all know how those split second decisions go.
