We all use a UK supplier

I guess the names are

ParafinaPetroleo
Keroseno
Petroli
Queroseno in SPAIN, we use Barretline from England as a Brand name

I guess if we did a thread of UF installs we would see 100 different ideas, all with merits and personal touches. Final weight is one of my big considerations, some installs with brackets and gizmos get really heavy!

Not even had a chance to take my new Ultra Flash (well, new to me) out of its bags to put my receiver in yet but the chap who built it made a stunning job of the install. Will be neater once all the wires are plugged in.

Will be taking everything out next season to check batteries etc, and have a good check over. Looking forward to flying this one.

Just sold mine & already looking at another...smh. Maybe Swiss this time. Hopefully the year end sales are about to hit Hey, anyone transporting with the rear horizontal stab removed? I ran my last one with the elev servo connections inside the fuse, so it wasn't easily removable. I want to do this one differently, but was always worried about the elevator servo wires touching the outer pipe.

I ran mine with a multiplex connector below the front elevator pin
this made for quick assembly at the field and never had to worry about wires
will look for a picture of the install and post later

I just have a piece of velcro on the side of the fuselage, the lead coming through the hole we put in the former is attached to the fuse side just behind that leaving 1.5" free and the lead coming out of the tail has a loop of opposite velcro around it, after connecting the tail you just pull the lead away from the outer "cool" wall and attach the loop to the fuse side.

I remove my horizontal stabilizer every time, but before the "mod" I was afraid of the same exact thing.
Although it's not a UF, it is built by the same manufacturer.

Thanks guys! Was looking at a pod & boom to fit in the minivan with the fam, but then I realized if I do another UF with an easily removable stab that would work just fine.

Phillip

what a great installation. I love a lot of the ideas you have and will likely duplicate some of them in the UF i am getting ready to build this spring. I did have one quick question. In the picture showing the saddle tanks, the one on the left looks like it has a Y festo connection coming out of the tank. Was that just to improve flow rates from the tank? The whole fuel setup is one of the items I still haven't settled on and I am looking for ideas and advice on this topic. Thanks so much for any you or anyone else may have.

Started with a 'partially' UF Magento build for a customer, it will be his second 'spare' UF (to be honest his third, the first one had some contact with the ground).
This one will be fitted with the Behotec retracts, Airtech legs and a Kingtech K100G as power.

Here the build so far.

Wing on the keyboard standard:

Making the wing servo blocks:

and installed:

Spot the difference!!!

RH side:

LH side:

Not completely the same distance?!?!?!

RH

and LH:

About 5mm difference, because of this the RH retracts nipple will contact the rib, so had to grind some to let it fit.

Aligned and mounted:

Up to the next on the list :-)

Grt,
Berto.

Hi Guys,

thx for your kind words.

My idea is a) to let it look nice BUT also b) be able to see more or less everthing (connectors, etc.).

Josh you looked carefully :-). You are absolutely right. This is the smoke-tank and for that I need a lot of fuel comming out the tank. Because it is not easy to use the CARF tank-plug with a 6mm tube I use 2x4mm. The clunk looks like attached.

If you want Josh, I can give you a dropbox link with all building pictures. Please send me an email to '[email protected]' if ou want.

Best regards

Phillip

So I want to put out a philosophical question that I am certain will create some discussion. :-) I see that most of you on here are using a Powerbox as their receiver. I had originally planned on using the Spektrum AR12120 Powersafe receiver. I am running all HV servos, so I do not need voltage regulators, and any programming functions I can take care of off the radio, not that this plane needs many. I have run the 9 channel version of this radio in several big planes and have been very happy with it. So let me open it up to the group, why or why not stick with this plan. Thanks

I run the 9 Ch Powersafe receiver (can't remember the number) in several jets with dual A123 LiFe power and never had an issue. I wouldn't hesitate to go the route you propose and this from someone who flies Futaba 18MZ and Spektrum converted JR so no particular axe to grind.

I'm a big Powerbox fan, but the UF does not need one, its just weight. We designed the wood to take the Sensor switch with two 2200 Li-Pos
150mAh per pack per flight is maximum useage.
In the UK 99% of UF models use the UF, I know of two with over 1000 flights both using the PB Sensor/2 x 2200 Li-Po set up.

I have just ordered my new Ultra flash and intend to do the same. High Voltage servos and Spektrum AR12120 Powersafe receiver.

So that's that job done
Now only have to mess about with CG cause she's tail heavy
If i need to add to much weight i will install the smoke setup/pump and battery for the extra weight and of course cause smoke's Smooookinnngggggggggg

- K140G
- Saddle tanks
- Full ducting
- 8411 in stab, rest DES 707
- Powerbox gemini 2 + 2x 2200mah for power
- Jet-1A gear 2 way......... (advise from my side, NEVER go for this option!!!)
- Jet Tronics valves
- Cat130 Hopper

Build was really an pice off P.. compared to my first one (green) every thing really fel together like Lego!!
One small , the alignment of the wing bolds, that really Suc... big time...

Now waiting for an dry field, nice weather and some good luck.
For now crack on with the next one witch is already in progress, the magenta one
