Midas, what measurement did you put your CG at, did you mount the turbine at the forward part of the rails?

Midas, Looks awesome! I thought you were going with K100g, did you change your mind? How are you doing your cg...upside down, upright?

- Not sure how tail heavy exactly, played with 50gr, and that was not enough, have to play some more.
- Put CG exactly as per manual on Carf website for UF (not CF as in the booklet), and the engine is as far forward as it can all the way up to the rails
- I'm going for the K100 in the Magenta one witch is in progress, Berto from RemoteJets started on the wings for me (post #4571) so then i got one with K140 and one with K100 for when things go **** up.... Did CG upright.

You can go back.My "safe" position for first time UF drivers is conservative. Having been there, I'd go 232mm straight off.

Just acquired my first UltraFlash. Going through the first few pages of this thread and couldn't find the setup for some of the throws/rates/expo. Would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. So far have got this from one of Dave's early posts...

FLAPS: Take off 25-28mm. Landing 95-100mm both figures measured at the root, trailing edge of each flap. The Ultra Flash requires down elevator with flap. Take off 0.8mm and Landing 4mm measured at the elevator trailing edge tip. Exact figures will be affected by balance position.
CG: Gear up 220-225mm back from the wing/fuselage joint.

Dom

All comes down to what you want from the airframe, do you like sharp, soft, responsive, F3a!
For you go back to 230-235mm on balance.
Some like less flap and CROW, the UF has plenty of control power, so set up accordingly.

OK. Thanks Dave. I'll go with what I do on all my jets and go with 3 rates and 30% expo on everything and work it out on the maiden. Selected rate tends to depend on my caffeine level on the day. See you at CJ61.

If CJ is the maiden we can talk through movements and I can even spot for you. Elevator I usually have more expo on down than up by 5% and I'd punch for 35% (40%) but like I say if its there I can eyeball the correct figures.

It sure feels that way! Did 7 flights on mine this past Sunday. My gas can was empty haha. Now I have a grand total of 24 flights on it.

Loving it!

You are just making work! The tail cone tab will need cutting down (especially when you open the back of the fuselage opening towards the top like it needs!

Mmm don't have camera card here showing the work, but here is a picture showing the start of the line I would dremel to. The top (bottom on this shot) lip needs reducing to around 5mm so that the out cool pipe sits in line with the tailcone and everything lines up. The matching face on that needs the hole opening too.

How do you like your new jersey modeler? I was planing to order one until I found out he doesn't carry the shorter tank anymore he has switched it to the longer one. Do you think it's to tall?

I think the tank height is fine. Would I prefer the previous size tank...Yeah probably. But I think I will get used to this one quick enough.
I have had it in the back of my ute a few times and it hasnt fallen over.
The variable speed pump is great for easing pressure on the UF main tank (which seems to always have a leak somewhere). Also comes with a charger which is pretty handy.

Dave,

Check, know what you mean now!

But saying this, is this not something for Carf to look in to and do some changes so they make it fit?
Also the gear base alignment in the wing, this is also alway's off.... Post #4571

I am using the stock behotec gears with the one big air tank that comes with it, and I can't get the tank in the nose.
do I need to grind some of the wood away?

Jep, grind some of the wood away on the top side, otherwise you will never get it in the nose.

Hi SR117,

I ordered it through Phil Celima at Jet Products Australia http://jetproductsaustralia.com/about_us
Service was really good. The tank was actually shipped direct from America and was here in less than 2 weeks.

Paul.
