I wonder if the new K120 will become the UF turbine of choice. Seems like it'd be an awesome light & powerful combo

Hi All,

Has anyone tried the Xicoy struts in their UF?

Have had that setup until I lost orientation on my Flash and works a treat. Minor mods filing sanding to fit etc but nothing out of the ordinary.

I think it would be an awesome combo.
Loved my UF with the 100. 120 would be just perfect.

Can someone help me selecting gear. I have reduced my choice to Behotec. But, some supplier offer a direct fit C36-2 kit and others C40 with a nice direct sterring servo attachement.

Looked a couple hundreds post but i could not clearly identify wich one is best and why. I'm looking to have the kit that fit the easiest without modification....

Or this one:

I have had both the c36 and now electron retract with direct servo mount
by far the electron set would be my choice from now on
however the do require simple modifications as the mounts are 2 mm wider where as the c36 are a drop fit

I would rather make the mods and go electric and the electrons have a beefier pin and strutss
I broke many pins on my c36 as have many of my fellow pilots here

Don't get me wrong I have seen the c36 it is a workhorse but I have had a few belly landings due to lock
ups and have now had over 100 flights with electron sets and no issues
same goes for all my buds that went to electron. A no brainier today

good luck which ever way you go

I have the C-40 with direct servo steering. Although the c-36 would be a better fit with the least modification, it is not as beefy as the c40. With the c-40 you just have to sand few more mm of the mounts. I was debating the same thing as you when making a purchase but now I'm happy I went with the C40.

Hi Paul,

let us know how you get on with them...I am interested to know if the nose strut will stay centred when the nose leg is retracted so that it re-engages the steering mechanism cleanly when gear is deployed.

Will do Craig.
I am using the Electron Evo-40 retracts at the moment. Retract and extend with no issues using the supplied centering spring.
I will post a pic of the struts and retracts on this thread.

Paul hi
i am using now the set that mounts the servo on the retract itself - ie no pull pull any more and it works great
flew mine again yesterday - BEST plane out of all the jets IMO

next on ,y list will be the U Lightning

Hi Izzy.

Any chance you could post a few pictures of the retract with servo mount?
Sounds like a great idea if it works.

Hello guys,

I have a Behotec C40 electric combo for my UF:

I would like to replace the tires with softer ones.
The behotec tires seems to be hard for a grass usage. When I use my brakes on landing phase, my UF "zigzags" à little bit. Of course, I added a small longitudinal angle to my wheels.
I tested my brakes on tar, no problem...

Some advices please ?
Maybe a link where I can buy softer tires for my behotec rims ?

Cheers
Nicolas

hope the files are upright as I am uploading from
iphone
as you can see made for a very clean and simple install

definitely recommended to go the direct servo route
also
made a custom hing similar to carf hawk doors for the front door with spring to bring it up for transportation
almost no hinge gap

what about using a delay timer on brakes as they are electric. Then the brakes become proportional in the brake power and it will increase pressure slowly eliminating zigzag
that's what I did with the electron gear. Works wonders

Nicolas, I don't think the tires are your problem. I have these gear/brakes on a Comp Arf Viper and a Flash and have always used the stock wheels and tires. And yes they are hard but that shouldn't change a lot on grass. Make sure you have the proper toe in for tracking and then you might check to see if have the braking force set too high for the grass runway. It is really easy to adjust the max braking force using the hand held programmer. This will let the brakes come in slower as you start applying your brakes with the slider. Finally, you can put a simple single axis gyro on the nose gear that will help your directional control on all surfaces.

I think you're right, i'm going to reduce the braking force. I'll let you know if it's better or not.

Cheers

Hi all

What size batterys are you using if you are using a HV setup with a jetcat 140? Im carrying 1mm of up elevator in flight. Im using twin 2650s 2s lipos and a 3800 life 9.9V on turbine.
I have 1800 2s lipo which are just over 100grams lighter combined that ill try to see if I can get rid of the 1mm of up....m cofg is just forward of the recommended with the 2650s and right on with the 1800.
Im carrying too much in the nose but Id rather leave the bling in it up there if I can and just reduce bty flights and change btys...

Only seen ( as somebody else was testing it for me) one flight. flies nice but had a dead stick after 6mins 4mins in the air. Initially thought the wing tank ( i have wing and main for fuel ) had a split in it or a leak.
Turns out after inspection I found the main tank was the culprit....which was checked....with air etc...and fuel....and ground ran twice....now has a split ( not viewable but I can feel air when I blow into the tank).
It is split on the bottom edge right side from the front where the internal baffle meets the floor of the tank...ie the outer middle bottom seam.
This stopped me getting a fly myself....when I refilled it started to leak... a lot.

Next time hopefully I will get to fly.
I will try and reseal the tanks....if no luck may try the kevlar ones. I can only guess that the pressure in flight has opened it up as I had no split before and had ground tested excessively.

Would like to know what you guys are using for btys if you are using a jc140 and hv servos..

Hi SR117,

you can't just simply compare battery sizes. all components like retracts and so on will have effect on the CG.

Better check your CG, it must be close to 235mm.

regards, Michel
