Exactly the reason I'm not going through CARF, someone has had to get this paint, a few weeks ago a member posted a Blue Angel UF for sale that had repairs done, and had some areas re-painted. Did not get the username at the time...

I have had great results by taking a CARF part to my local auto paint store here in the UK where they have been able to use a hand held scanner to determine the colour and then provide a large rattle of the required paint. I'm sure this can be done world wide and even if your local paint store doesn't have this equipment an experienced technician can usually get a pretty good match using shade cards and a no 1 eyeball!

Default My new Jet from Rocket Factory

I want to share pictures and details of my latest Jet built "READY TO FLY" by The Rocket Factory at DemonAero. Most of you know him as "F1-Rocket," Danny. This is the Comp ARF Ultra Flash with extensive modification per my request such as redesign canopy hatch and installation of a pitot tube.

All MKS servos: 599HBL on Elevator Aileron and Rudder, 1220 on Flaps and 1230 on nose wheel... All HV
Cortex Gyro (Of course)
Jeti CB400 with 3xR3
Behotec C40 Landing gear and brakes
Jets Munt MBL 200X (47 pounds of thrust)
Jet Tech Kevlar tank... Specially made saddle tanks to accomodate the installation of bypass
FCT - Air Trap
Uni-Light Afterburner
Pair of 3 cell (11.1 Volt) Pulse batteries
and a mile of cabling...

With the new CB400 and the two BEC..... Danny's brilliant idea was to power the entire jet with a pair of 3 cell (11.1 V) 5000Mah. One BEC powers the Turbine ECU, and the other BEC powers the retracts, brakes and the afterburner, and plenty left over for all the HV servos.

There is a place in front board for the new Xicoy Flight Computer (FC1) which controls and transmit amount of fuel on board, speed (uses Jeti pitot tube), G force, GPS data and all turbine status information to my transmitter.

As you can see from the pictures all these equipments are nicely situated on a professionally CNC'd boards done by Laura (Danny's wife) .. what a perfect Team..

This is not the first Jet out of the Rocket Factory.. Actually my third jet and Danny has two more jets for me which I am waiting for him to finish.

With Many Thanks...

David..

David

Pretty aeroplane. Without sounding negative, what does it weigh with all that stuff in it? Also why a filter in the main tank feed line, that's a lot of joints in one line! My own experience with the Festo filters is poor, too many have leaked...

Good luck on the maiden

Hi Dave..

The final dry weight is slightly over 25 lbs.... The entire fuel line system is 8mm. There is a festo reducer 8mm to 6mm from main tank to UAT. The festo filter is before the UAT and on suction side to avoid problems with this kind of filter on the pressure side. The final filter is the pickup line from the FCT air trap.

I have contacted Gary at Jet-tech and will change the center brass nipple of the main tank from 8mm to 6 and remove the reducer before the filter...

Thank you for your wishes.. will let you know after maiden...

OK, 25lb is not heavy!

It would be better with 6mm like you say, guessed you went suction side for that reason-actually I don't see you need a filter there!
Long as your system is sealed it will be fine.

Great airframe! :-)

Actually the installed weight and diameter of the Jets Munt 200X is the same as the JetCat P140Rxi...

I have personally seen this and other work that Danny does.. Its simply the best and cleanest installs I have ever seen.. Im thinking about sending him my kingcat for a redo..

This UF, you guys may see things you would or wouldn't do, but Danny and Dave have researched and discussed almost every detail of it with lots of people, including Gaspar, and the Jetec guys, and several of us locals.. This one is definitely outside the box.. To include powering the turbine with a HDBEC and what it will take if switching frequency causes issues or not.. He researched it a lot, and I think it will work well actually given the capacitance I know thats in the CB400 BEC...

I wasn't a fan of suction filters, but Gaspar wanted it that way if I recall correctly..with this setup.

FWIW, he was also the guy that tested and qualified the Jeti Radio for USA..

I can't wait to see it fly.. hurry up Dave!!..

Default Ultra Flash with M200X flies

Yesterday I flew the new Ultra Flash built at the "Rocket Factory" by Danny... my experience flying jets for over 20 years is mostly BVM jets.. I currently have two Bandit MKII (140X), One Super Bandit (140X), two Ultra Bandit (200X & P300RX), Bobcat (140X), F100F (AMT Olympus HP) & F4 (AMT Pegasus). In one word the Ultra Flash was an amazing jet. On the maiden flight it felt so dialed in as if it had flown and trimmed before.. The maiden flight was actually enjoyable and relaxing... During one flight I opened the throttle to ¾ down wind and on turn up wind to full throttle and I logged in 400 Kmh (based on Xicoy Flight Computer FC1)!!!!

Most of the 4 flights I was below 50% throttle and it was quiet fast.... below are some pictures..

Again a BIG thanks to Danny for such amazing work...

David

I have had only 4 flights on an UF and over 1000 flights on BVM bandits.. From the original bandit (ducted fan conversion ) to current MKII ... So far after 4 flights I'm impressed and really enjoy the UF...

Hopefully in near future I will have a much better answer for you... One thing is for sure the 200X gives it a different feel compare to the 140X bandit MKII... Imagine a hot knife cutting butter!!!!!

Hey guys,
I'm setting my radio to MIX in down trim with full flap and need to see how much Trim down is added to the FULL flap setting for Landing. If someone could post some pictures Max flap down position along with the elevators in their associated trim down position would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Chris

its a lot if I recall 4-5 mm maybe. It's been posted in this thread before. Be sure you are using flight modes so you can trim each configuration change easily. Look up Phil greeno on this thread his set up is perfect and you will have nothing to worry about if you follow the info he gives.

Got it thanks!

[h=2]RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video[/h] As the UF is such a popular model this topic on flap settings/crow etc is going to go on and on.

I have found the UF the most pleasant of my jets to land so far.I have posted my settings on this thread before but here they are again and in my opinion are just perfect.

All measurements at tip.

Take off Flap 27mm ( - 1mm down elevator mix)
Landing Flap 75mm ( -5mm down elevator mix)
Crow on full FLap + 6mm
+ 1mm up trim on elevator for normal flight.
CG 232mm from LE cut line (tanks empty,ATU full, wheels down)

I found operating manual travel settings for aileron too powerfull so reduced to;

Ailerons +9mm/-10mm (up/down) 40% expo.

Rudder 45mm each way (40% expo)

Elevator +10mm/-11mm (40% expo)

If you go with these setting you cant go wrong and will have a very pleasant and easy model to fly.

Phil.

I will be removing that 6mm festo after a few runs on the tank to grap any loose kevlar from the tanks... the center pickup from the UAT is the best filter...

Thanks.

Hi Paul,
they will perform good. I've made 70 flights with mine and no single failure, even not a small sign of any wear.
the proportional control and braking force is really nice.

I've had a few questions about how I modified the canopy latch on David's UF. This was needed to accommodate the nose mounted pitot tube David wanted to use. The attached photos should be pretty clear.
