Questions

Anyone mind measuring the diameter of the intakes?

Also,

Can these things really go in the 160 - 180 with a P80se?

thx in advance for any input

Regards

Over 200...

This is not a great video but it shows the all around performance.

My original Classic Flash and my Dad's UF both had 18lb Wren SuperSports in them at one point, both went well, the Ultra like Dave says was still over 200mph, just lacked a little vertical, but if you managed the speed into big loops or verticals, it was good.

That's wild !!

Do you think the circumference of the intake could be around 270-ish mm?

JetFan just came out with a 100mm fan that does around 300 watts to a lb after 13 lbs which is the most efficient for the size that doesn't cause ones ears to ring.

... 2 x 12.5 static thrust with ~ 10% flow loss and ~ 22lbs installed estimate.

I figure 6 mins pegged at 10c and that's without using HV or graphene packs to make up for the voltage drop.

What's the weight with gear?... I'm sure its mentioned in the thread but its over 200 pgs

Thx in advance for any input

Saw a couple of em fly and and have to have one on the bucket list

Look what showed up today! The shipping box was a tiny bit compromised, but thankfully the contents were unscathed! The picture does it absolutely NO justice as to the quality of build. Dreamworks is THE ONE STOP SHOP for sales and service, bar none. Thank you Linda, Todd and Ashley for the excellent customer service. I'm in awe of the new paint scheme, this thing is going to haul the mail. I do miss the Classic, but on to a new friend! There will be questions I'm sure as I get into this build. Xmas in May here in CA!!!!!

Well I had to work in the garage ALL DAY long to wait for the UPS guy to drive by, so I performed "garage" stuff while waiting! Shoot, every car that drove by today, could have been the UPS guy! It was kill'n me, waiting. I did "busy" stuff in the garage.

The Flash models just won't work as EDF. The ducting was never designed with that in mind. The Airframe is built like a tank to take everything people can throw at them, so although not heavy, its also not light weight. It just won't work as an EDF aeroplane with any fan unit.

Sorry!

Good choice, just test flew my Classic flash in the same scheme this weekend, looks great and shows up well in the sky.

Rob

I had the classic in Thunderbird scheme. Congrats on your maiden flight, very scary, and exciting all in one breath. I'll be there in a few weeks.

Carf did a great job, very happy with the fit and finish. I have experience with BVM, Skymaster, FEJ, Yellow and JMP. Very impressed with the rigidity and quality. Cheers.

737 Driver, I have the same schem as Steve, we both chose McLaren. Complete Pro link electric gear and brakes, Jet tech tanks all around, JR 8411 again all around. JetCat 120 to start with, perhaps Evo 160 later. Going with 135 CG with 5mm crow. Your jet awesome with that paint schem, no problems seeing that for sure !

But I've flown the smaller Avanti and was sort of amazed at the handling and feel - so it's been on my mind as an option.
Get both .. but you will come back to the flash.. its point and shoot.. it flies just as slow, and faster, climbs better, turns about the same, but is a helluva lot tougher on those tough landing days.. My ultra flash lost an engine and went down in a cornfield.. It landed as gentle as it could in head high corn.. I was expecting a shredded plane.. It was 100% in tact, just full of husk/corndust.. no damage.. that would not happen with any other jet

Back in the day we dialed thrust and used a radar.. we hit 200 with 22 lb thrust in a flat out blast with out the bypass.. so it will fly on 22lb P80 all day nicely.. It will fly on a 100 size engine and break 200 and go uphill nicely too, same as a bandit.. we have had them in the same pattern with identical 100 engines, and they were basically the same speed.. 200 passes all day.

What I like about it over a bandit is its toughness, and it lands easier without the bandits tendencies to tip stall because of the washout

Dave , absolutely 235 not 135. Thanks for catching that. Must of fat figured while typing on my mobile. Wouldn't want to mislead anyone, glad you raised the question. Cheers
