Ok you Ultra Flash experts, I am having a hard time with the nose door. First flight had to do a gear up landing cause the nose spring on the strut caught the door on the way down. I tried making a wood wedge like in the manual but it wasnt designed around this nose strut. The spring is the problem. Also with the wood wedge when I steer the plane the spring moves a small amount left and right as well. Problem is if I put a wedge to have the strut bring door down first the wedge has to be too big to reach the strut so its fully closed when flying but when the gear is extended the strut is too close to the door and the wedge doesnt allow the door to sit sort of flush with the strut. Any ideas? Anyone has a pic of their installation with this particular strut???? Currently flying with out the door but would like to put it on...

I personally don't like the nose gear doors and don't use them on either one of my Flash's. If you are dead set on using the nose door I would put a strait strut on that retract.

Like you say it was designed around the Behotec strut. But looks like if you glue a block above the spring to the leg to continue the spring front surface up to the top of the leg. The door should then ride up that. You just need to get rid of any step.

I would believe with the front wheel down the door would act as somewhat of an air brake ?

You may need both an entrance ramp and a secondary guide to keep the spring from catching. The setup shown in the photo works well on a different airplane. While this particular strut does not use a spring I believe this will work for you.

Another UF ready to fly for my local grass site club. JetCat P-140Rxi, JR 8411 and JR DMSS radio. This is Piers's first jet build and he did a super job, he 'paid' for the check over in the usual currency (biscuits), only a few tweaks needed and its ready for me to test fly. He removed the canopy loop also you will note.

Because the way the retract works just having a ramp so it doesnt catch the spring wont work. The edge of the door will still catch the spring. If i put a block above the spring on the door side when the gear is retracted the block has to be big enough to move the door out of the way first on way down that it wont let the door close when its retracted

I have my Ultra Flash on order in the Thunderbirds color scheme. I have always loved the BVM Bandit in the Fly Navy colors. The ultra Flash Fly Navy Version has a gray Fuse instead of yellow and I don't like it very much. I saw a video of an Ultra Flash in the Fly Navy Colors and it had a Yellow fuse. I cant seem to find the video now. Dave do you recall this jet being offered in Fly navy with the yellow fuse? Is that considered Custom paint with an up charge? If I could get the Fly Navy with a Yellow fuse I would be real tempted to change my order.
Thanks.
Dom

It would be a simple colour swap on the fuselage. Normally there is a small up charge for the paperwork in production, but talk to your rep/supplier and they can talk with CARF.

Thanks Dave.
I e-mailer Trevor who owns the Flash in the video, he verified that he painted the fuse himself. If I decide to go fly Navy I will ask for the color swap.
Thanks,

I got a good deal on some JR 8411's with the Labor Day Sales some hobby shops are having so I picked up 7 of them for the flight surfaces. My Ultra Flash will be a winter project so I am acquiring all the things I need before then.

I am looking for a Pilot for my soon to arrive (end of year) Thunderbird's version. I am Ok with doing some painting and detailing. Would this pilot fit or is he too small?

We had a jet meeting in the UK last Friday and although the weather was not the best, we did plenty of flying in a strengthening cross wind. As you can see from the early pits photos Flashes and UF models were the main weapons of choice in the blustery conditions.
I maidened Piers Swiss UF in the morning and after minor adjustments to the radio set up he had his first (2nd and 3rd) jet turbine flight. Piers flies a lot of large petrol models in our local club, but had no trouble adjusting to the UF.

For those using the powerbox Sensor switch, do you have all JR Connectors or JR / MPX? If using all JR what are you doing about the heavy leads on batteries like Thunder Power Prolights?
Thanks,
Dom

Hi Guys.
Can someone measure the width and length of the battery pockets along side the nose gear? I am sourcing all my parts now and want to see what battery options I may have that would fit in that pocket.
Thanks!
