Does anyone know who makes this nose strut? Had it on my flash with ER 40 and need a replacement.
Actually I would like to get a strut that fits this retract with the steering mechanism that it has built in. It doesn't use pull pull. And with this nose strut I can't get the nose strut door to work cause the door catches the springs on way down. Tried several different options and nothing. Would like a strut without these springs that fits this er40

I am going to order my Jet Tech kevlar fuel tanks today. Going high flow with 3/16 fittings all around including high flow UAT. I was planning on the fuse and saddles giving me a total of 132oz. with the set. Plumbing will be saddles to main, Main to 12oz dubro type tank then UAT. 144 oz in all (not counting the UAT). The Cheetah SE burns 22 oz / min at full power. I know I wont be at full power all the time but doing the worse case scenario math 144 / 22 = 6.5 min of fuel. Now if all the fuel in the main tank is not usable then I am looking at even less. I could go with the wing tank also but did not like the idea of hooking that up each time the wing is removed.
Anyone know what the actual amount of usable fuel is in the main fuse tank?
For those with big block engines what is your fuel capacity and flight time?
I tend to fly aggressively so my time spent at full power may be higher than average. Still with this slippery airframe perhaps I wont be.
Any real world data would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dom

I've built a couple UF. One M140 powered, the other has a M200. Both used the Jet Tech saddle tanks and main tank feeding a FCT 250ml air trap. The owner has never complained about flight times. IMO, an additional 12oz Dubro tank would be hard to squeeze into the fus. Better to add the wing tank if you need/want more capacity. FYI, Jet Tech makes two versions of the saddle tanks. We used the smaller ones that fit around the bypass better.

I fly an UF withe a M140xbl with main and wing tanks. My flight timer is set to 6 min and i have more then 1/3 left in the tank after shut down. I do fly most of my flight aggressively. My friend who F1 Rocket built for flies with me with both M140 and a M200 UF w/ saddle tanks and main flies 6 min as well. Again fairly aggressive flying. You will be oK with just the saddles and the main.

Thanks!
I just ordered the Jet Tank Narrow Saddles (46 oz) and the Main (74 oz). The standard saddles are 58 oz but you need the narrow for the bypass. I am wondering if the more slippery airframe with the bypass will allow me to reduce the throttle setting thus making up for the 12 oz loss. Anyway the reduced capacity saddles are equivalent to the wing tank as far as capacity.

They're awesome, have them on both my flashes. They don't allow fuel to pass through when they are disconnected

Another option for wing connection:
http://www.thunderboltrc.com/index.p...oducts_id=1300 (Canada)
In-line connector (not panel mount) with quarter turn release/connect. Inside diameter looks to be 3 mm. I'm happy with mine, but note that I'm using one for 6 mm smoke, not 8 mm fuel line. I don't see them listed on Todd's site, but he carries TB wiring, so maybe he'd bring them in.
Dom: If you're using JT fuel tanks, I'd highly recommend that you also order his clunks. The clunks I had were either too large to fit through the bung hole, or too light. Gary's are awesome. Like his tank fittings, the clunks are available for either 3/16 or 1/8.

Thanks Steve.
I did not order his clunks since I was planning to use the BVM High Flow clunks which are also 3/16 id. They look similar to his but I liked the one piece design of the BVM. Hopefully this was not one of the clunks that you tried unsuccessfully. Please let me know because if you tried the BVM and it did not work its not too late for me to get Gary's.
Thanks Steve!

I would also recommend Gary's Clunks. They are very heavy duty and work very well. I have tried BVM clunks but over time the fuel line hardens inside the tank and the clunk does not move around as easily. Gary's clunks are heavy and work very well even if the fuel line slightly hardens. You can ask him to fully assemble your tanks so all you have to do is just put in the ultra flash and connect your external lines.

Hi Dom,
Just to confirm, I did not try the BVM clunks. Sullivans were the only ones (other than Gary's) that would fit through the bung but were way too light. I forget the brand of the heavier ones that I tried, but the O/D was way too big.
I've only got two flights in so far (but DRV has tons), and I'm very happy with Gary's. Not a speck of air in the UAT. And I agree with DrV about how heavy they are. The first time I turned the jet over, it sounded like the turbine fell out - lol.

Hi Guys,
Firstly thank you for a great thread, I've been reading every single post and making notes as I go. Very informative for someone building his first jet. I have been a heli guy all my life, got offered to buy a complete CARF Viper from a very reputable guy here in Dubai and really enjoying this jet flying thing.
Long story short but decided to build my own jet as i'm a firm believer you cant fly these toys if you cant build them.
Its quite funny how you make a budget and blow the budget in two weeks when you go through this thread.
Please bare with all my stupid questions and i'm sure there will be so many.
My planned setup is as follows:
Cayman Scheme Ultra flash
Jet Italia 130 speed turbine
Jet tech tanks all round..still deciding on whether i should run smoke in the wing or saddle tanks. Ordered 3/16 fittings all round. Will be running the clunks from jet tech and in the main tank GBR Paper clunk. Also decided to go with the zeal 180cc UAT.
JR 8411 servo's all round, I did see there were some comments on the nose steering servo digital servo's, but i'm sure it will be fine as is.
Electron retracts - Hoping there is not much modification to be done but will deal with that.
Will be running 6mm festo tubing to fuel tanks and 4mm festo tubing from pump onward.
Still deciding if I should paint the canopy and in the back of my mind I almost know i'd screw up the first one...might just go ahead an order a spare.
I'm very excited for this build and please guys any suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards
William Blake
