Robert, start it up and see what bit does. Try it on the bench if you're concerned.

I have heard back from Gaspar and the turbine can be mounted in any potion one would like. the following is his email response;

You can rotate the engine to the position you like, the engine is not sensitive at the mounting position. Just take care to not place the power leads close to magnetic rpm sensor, that is located at 2 o'clock while looking the engine from front with the connector at 12 o'clock.

Gaspar

Problem solved, have to love the technical support from Jets Munt, i sent the email last evening at 10 pm eastern and I had a response on a Saturday in my inbox at 03:45 am. Thanks Gaspar.

Gaspar technical support for Jets Munt turbines or other Xicoy products is the best... I fly nothing but Jets Munt turbines..

Dave W, and Rob Westwater both flew their CARF Ultra Flash's yesterday at a U.K. Jet Meeting, just fuel and fly, so reliable.

Thanks AP. I love my UF, every time it comes out I remember why it’s the greatest sports jet ever! Rob’s model was test flown 5 miles from where we were yesterday just over 8 years ago! It was the first UF in that scheme ( copying my Schubeler Spark) my Orange checker fade was painted as an experiment and I think looks amazing!

It’s interesting you bring it up. I was thinking about the Evo last week, there are only a couple in the U.K. at the moment and I guessed people didn’t realise how much the Evo version changes the UF flight characteristics. The reduction in weight and slight increase in drag (from the ducting removal) means the Evo version suits pilots who may have struggled with managing the originals huge energy retention. I’ve talked before about the weight difference people built into the originals, this caused a few pilots to struggle as their pilot skills were a little short of the potential in the airframe, especially at the higher weights. The Evo allows pilots who found they were comfortable with Avanti, T1 etc to enjoy a really straight, smooth flying model.

in the U.K. there is a huge movement towards the CARF Joker, I think some of those guys will buy Evo’s

Interesting to hear, thanks for your insight Dave.
I loved my classic and ultra flash. I thought they were awesome machines and wasnt really sure you could improve them any.
I think an Evo is in my future. Out of curiosity how much lighter is the evo? I remember my UF was 22.5 pounds dry with a cheetah for power.
Is the inlet an optional part for purchase or is it included with the Evo?

The Airframe/retract/tailpipe Combo is between 1.5 and 2lb lighter, depending on the retracts people used.
No inlets, it does not make as much difference on the UF as the inlets are small anyway

Didn't there used to be a way to just see the pics in the thread all in one spot? I wanted to see the Cayman schemes that were in here and I can't seem to find that function.....

Default NACA ducts

It does not look like the EVO owner above put the NACA ducts in his. With the different ducting are they not needed now on the EVO?

Hi guys,
I want to share here my rebuild, after my friend crashed his UL, and every part was damaged.

But first, I want to tell you why it is so important for me.
Almost six years ago (on my birthday), a reckless guy flew his Tuano NRG full throttle in to my head, and sent me to a very long stay in a hospital.
I was near death, and after the crash I lost my left eye and many other problems that related to a severe head injury.
I never wanted to stop flying models, but my new "situation" kept me out, so when my friend crashed his UL, I took what left of it, and start to resurrect it, while I don't have depth perception, and suffering from other problems.
I always tried to do things perfect as I could, getting better over the years (Like the rest of us...) and that build was something new for me, many things wend very hard because my problems, but...
Here is the (almost) finished UF, the maiden will take place soon, I will upload a video.

The setup is on the chinese side:
FrSky X10s with R9 module.
RX8R Pro + R9mm connected to RB-20
Turbine of choice will be probably Swiwin.
Servos from Hitec, BlueBird and HD.
Batteries, my oun packs from A123 systems.

So, the quality of the paint job is not what I used to produce in the past, but for me today, good enough is great!
