Hey Dave - Is that the light blue Navy scheme? Haven't seen a batch of those in a while...getting confused here. Thought the only V4 schemes were red/white or blue/yellow???? But Henry did say those were available...

That is correct the only 2 schemes available are the red/whit and blue/ yellow. But the factory in this last batch sent me 10 blue navy trainer schemes because I order 1 for a customer so they must have decided to make 10. Out of the 10 only 4 left as soon as I put that post out yesterday I sold 6.

Not exactly sure... but be careful buying the gear listed as V3 Tornado gear if you have the newer Red/White or Blue/Yellow scheme...I was under the impression that the new versions (can we just call them V4 already?) used the gear with the shorter strut (F86 gear) as compared to the original longer Tornado struts. I have no idea at this point which model the Dreamworks gear fits in. It is also my understanding that the older Spring Air gear struts can NOT be retrofitted to the newest version Tornado...

Would anybody like to clear this up? Henry? Todd?

Thx....
Is anyone going to clear this up????????

Mike,

I talked to Henry this morning...he said the DreamWorks gear that Todd has on the site right now will not work on the newest version Tornado. The newest version uses the shorter gear only made by Spring Air and sold by Henry...think they are on backorder at the moment but should be in soon. Hope that helps.

It helps, and I knew the answer anyway, but surely this should have been answered by the supplier, four posts from Henry on this page and not one addressing the issue, he will be along shortly to say he missed the post, all three of them.

Mike,

He's just a phone call away ...for the record, he always answers calls and emails very promptly. Not everyone has time to follow these forums daily. Busy time for everyone so maybe give him a break :-)

Sorry txsham130 this is a thread dedicated to an airframe manufactured and supplied by ModellbauUSA they should read every post and answer if appropriate.

He is not a phone call away for me, its international and expensive.

To be honest I sell gear for my models that we make that fits. I don't recommend pro-link struts for any of our models if they don't fit that's something you need to take up with dreamworks not us. I have mentioned over and over that the new V3 has shorter struts. As for the phone call away thing mike you have not bought anything from me but sure have a lot to complain about. I have addressed all issues that my customers have and I also answer calls and emails all night it does not matter what time it is.

Well Mike he has got you there. He has mentioned several times that the New Tornado has shorter struts. As for answering questions he is great at that. Send him an email which is FREE since calling is to expensive for you and I bet he will answer in no time. I'm sure he does not spend all day looking at RCU like you but I am sure he will answer your email. The reason I am so sure is because I have emailed him when I have been flying all over the world and he has answered no matter what time.

Have to agree. I called Henry today and talked to him for a second. He asked if he could return my call in a bit. He called me right back in about 5 minutes and answered my questions!

$450 is right.  I paid $500 last June. They have actually went down $50.  Keith

The kits are $450 the $399 price was during Christmas special. If you take a look at the market place you will see that they are at that price. The gear on the new V3 are around 1.5 inch shorter.

Oh I see because I have not bought anything from ModellbauUSA I am not allowed an opinion, did not know that thanks for clearing that up

The only complaint I had was the fact that you have not answered a question about your airframe, I don't consider that a lot to complain about.

As to saying the struts are too short on many occasions, if that is the case why has the question been asked 24 posts back, it has obviously been missed by most of the people who frequent this thread, and obviously by me who is on RCU all day according to 747 junky the truth is I have subscribed to this thread as one of the original builders of a turbine version of the Falcon 120 I thought I could help others complete their aeroplanes.

Has anyone been using a "matchbox" or equivalent on the 2 elevator servos to avoid any potential binding? Just wondering what people's experience has been regarding this.

Thanks

i have used them before but no need. on my Tornado i just used endpoint adjustment and had the servos plugged into 2 different adjustmen. you will never use max throw so nothing will ever bind.

I agree with Tumbler no need for match box. If you have a good radio and plug everything in separate channels yes just use end points. With a good radio you can adjust both sides of the servo and it will never bind if you set it up correctly. Not to knock Match Box but with the high end radio's you can do a lot that you could never do a few years ago. The technology in our hobby is amazing. Not long ago if you told somebody that one day we would be flying model turbines they will have laughed at you.

I remember when servo reversing came out.  We thought that was the coolest thing ever.

Ain't that the gospel. It was a jump into the Twilite zone. My first TX that would do that was the Kraft Gold Spetrum 6. Still have it. Ha. Ha.
