I also decided to make the scale "foot steps" (I don´t know the exact english word...) I used 4mm brass tube, and soldered it together. They are pushed through holes in the fuselage, and some small fuel line cut-offs hold them in place. If I need to do a gear-up landing, I want the to come loose easily
many thanks

Hi Christian!
Wow... I must say that you have done a very nice job on your Delphin. I am currently transforming my old C-arf Eurosport (Swiss scheme) to a Eurofighter with rockets and bombs and stuff, and I also have hopes of maidening my AW Mig-21 soon.
For these reasons, my Delphin has been put on hold, but seing the result you have achieved, certainly makes me eager to continue the paint scheme hunt and weathering job on mine as well)
To answer your question, I do not remember the dimentions and will check tomorrow evening when I get home. But I think mine are a bit too large for the scale of the model. I will probably make a new set when I get back to finishing my L-29..

HI
I have started out on mine L-29 again, I wonder how far back can the CG be moved back and the plane still flies nice?? I have tested to angle the main gear forward us much as possible and I can move the wheel axle us much as 3,5 cm back when the gear is extended, that should solve the light nose wheel issue. I will have a HAWK Turbine in mine and that turbine is little heavier than standard, but with the 4,5l of fuel I will be able to fly over 20 minutes if I´m little gentle on the throttle. )).
regards Tomas

I was invited to fly at a fullsize airshow last weekend. It was a joy, especially since there were two fullsize L-29's attending. One of them had the original turbine replaced with a Viper turbine (the one sitting in a L-39), and it had very nice performance
I have replaced the Behotec 180g with a Merlin 140xbl, and still believe I have more than enough power.
Here is a pic of the model doing a full flaps flyby.

Just thought that I would update this thread. I have now had 9 flights with my L-29 and could snot be happier! It is so nice to have something different on a flight line full of repetition. Even nicer when it is as versatile and fun to fly as this one. I can go out and fly 10 mins of really smooth and scale like flying, with the turbine at such a low throttle setting that its almost silent. Or I can go out and firewall the throttle and hook around for 6-7 mins and still land with fuel in reserve. The Kingtech 140 is a wonderful turbine. Super soft and user-friendly. Matched with this plane, Spektrum 6270 servos and the new I gyro 3E it really is an ideal set up. I am actually struggling to fault the plane in anyway. If I were. It would be to say that its not an ARF! But then it never claims to be. There is a fair amount of building required. Espccially if you choose to modify the undercarriage to move the main wheels back ( Kindda essential in my opinion ) On the plus side. The surface finish is superb. I have just slapped some stickers on for the first flights, and I have to say. I have sen much worse silver finishes that have been so called " Professionally applied "
I have two more of these kits, and I like the model so much. I think I am going to get the second one and maybe even the third one built. I am tempted to put a 100 in one of then, as the plane needs so little power to fly, and with the 100 I think it will make for a more scale like power to weight set up.
Now all I need to do is pick a scheme or two,,,,, or three
Thanks to Lozza and Neilly for the great photos, and a massive thanks to my friend Tony at TC Aviation for doing the majority of the build for me. 9 flights in a row with no wrenching required….. Thats how it should be !

hello all.
I have a small question to the expert of the L-29.
I am very interested on a L-29, but here I flying on a grass runway of 100m.
Would it be possible to fly the L29 on such a track.
For turbine i have a P160 and a FT220.
Thanks for help
Best regards
Nick

The landing is easy and slow, go for the bigger turbine and you will be up in about 50m. It should not be a problem a I see it.
If you get one , reinforce the spar in the rear part of the fuselage , where you screw the two half's together there is a week spot in a really strong fuselage.
Best regards
Tomas

The lighter you'll be, the slower you'll land !
Ali, who don't to fly underpowered airplanes, fly it with a kingtech 140.
Go for the Jetcat 160sx, built it very light and go on !
Be careful with overpowering a jet : you will have to be very careful to the speed in flight, and a bigger engine is heavier and needs more kero for the same flight, etc, etc, etc...
A L-29 plane is an "oldies" with a low power/weight ratio. Flying her with a 220 class engine, when a show flyer like Ali love her with a 140 class engine, scaries me...

Hello gentlemen.
Thank you for your advice!
My concern is not landing but takeoff.
That's why I ask questions about your experiences.
For the flight, I doubt that 140N are enough.
But I have that two turbines on a shelf and looking for a new jet for our little grass runway
If someone has another idea for a semi-scale machine for this track I'm open!
