My preference is for Skymaster products. I don't want to bad mouth Fly Eagle, but I personally haven't seen a Fly Eagle plane with landing gear that works.

We have a friend wich also is a RCU member (Heraldo) flying a SM one in Araras, SP maybe you can see it flying and ask him in person about what he thinks about the plane.

RE: Skymaster or Fly Eagle
I just placed an order for a Large Hawk with FEJ.
I already owned JL F15 , FB-velox and GJC F86 jets, but havent tried SM... for now , i'll go FEJ. Im pretty sure both brands will be great in finish(i.e. paint job and built)
Goodluck on the pick, it was hard for me too.
Cheers,
Frank

RE: Skymaster or Fly Eagle
I have had the skymaster (smal) Hawk, and just recived the large Fej hawk. I love size of the FEJ Hawk It looks realy good. Nothing bad to say about the Skymaster.

Right now, I am seeing orders are taking about 8 weeks. BUT, remember, the Chinese New Year starts in February and that will shut the whole globe down for a month!!!
If your looking for the best ARF Hawk...FEJ is it, man! I love mine. FEJ has done really well with the construction, mechanicals on Gear, Flaps and Stab...the paint schemes and paint quality are over the top and customer service is the very best.

I don't own either, but from what I have seen and heard at the flying fields, the weight and gear are real issues with FEJ... I think they are well engineered and built, but the lay up weight and the gear failures are fairly obvious. I think they have made improvements in both areas. If I had to pick, I would lean tword Skymaster, cause I want a 1/6 F-16 and I have alot of good things about that perticular kit..... Come on Santa !!!!!!!!

dubd...you can contact James Chen directly at [email protected]
FEJ has evolved and continues to do so. I have enjoyed seeing them grow. I have flown their planes for a while now and watched them grow as a viable company over the past few years. I remember when Eric Clapp was representing them and telling me about them "as the new company to buy product from" at Liberty Bell Jet Rally in 2008...I wrote him a check for one of the "first ten" 1/7 Scale F-18's. Since then, I have owned 6 of their airframes. Now, I have a Hawk100 that absolutely is rock solid. It's a much larger plane than the SM and CARF Hawks and yes, it will head right to 55 lbs. wet. I flew right next to a SM Hawk at Super Jets and the FEJ Hawk was absolutely a much larger and a stronger presents...right up until I was in the air next to Dustin Buescher!!! I am just telling you that you cannot imagine the physical difference bewteen the 1/5 and 1/4.5 scale.
Best of luck.

RE: Skymaster or Fly Eagle
I have a number of the FEJ models as well as Skymaster, Fei Bao, Jet Legend, and a few others. To be perfectly honest, I have fun with all of them. I do like the price (quality FEJ planes has improved since purchasing the F-18) and the variety of plane produced by FEJ. [8D]

RE: Skymaster or Fly Eagle
Hi
Let me put it this way (I have own/own SM, FEJ and Feibao. Also built Jetlegend). My personnal opinion:
Glass lay-up 1ºSM, 2ºFeibao, 3ºFEJ, 4ºJL (very thin layup anf gelcoat - very light but very fragile and gel coat cracks a lot)
Epoxy resin 1ºFeibao 2ºSM 3ºFEJ 4ºJL
Paint Quality 1ºFEJ 2ºSM 3ºFeibao 4ºJL (O guess now JL already as external paint - but never saw)
Paint scheme detail 1ºSM 2ºFEJ 3Feibao 4ºJL
Gear train 1ºSM 2ºJL 3ºFEJ 4ºFeibao
Tail pipe 1ºSM FB and JL 2º FEJ
Valves 1ºSM 2ºJL Feibao and FEJ are junk
Cilinders 1ºFeibao 2ºSM and JL FEJ is trash
Cockpits 1ºSM and Feibao JL and FEJ are crap
Price/quality 1ºFEJ 2ºFeibao 3ºSM 4ºJL
All gave me great fun as long as you work hard to solve the faults, but the most annoying are
FEJ leaking cilinders and crappy valves
JL cracks in the coat
Sloppy Feibao gear
SM is quite expensive in comparison
I used to say it is almost as hard to chose a jet as it is to land it
Good luck and hope it helps
