Why do you need the solenoids so far from the pump?

Just for a neater installation, not that big a deal!

My main problem right now is that my Bu won't balance at the recommended point! Even with the batteries inside the nose cone!

I too strugled to achieve proper cg. I ended up making a small

hatch under the nose. 2x1000mAh lipos tucked in there.

My auw is 3,7kg. Here is a video taken a few days ago.

yesterday I even tried one 1600 Lipo (ECU) and one 2100 LiFe (Rx) inside the nose and still nothing!

Great video and flying!!!

I never got to have one in the end, just made the conversion kits, Ali or Dave or one of the Bu flyers should be able to chime in.

I did set the test Bu for Ali to 107mm back from leading edge of wing which is mid point from the suggested 100-115mm range - seemed happy at that point as far as I could see.

Glad you liked the kit - enjoy.

I have mine at about 105mm, but I like a quick response on pitch, not to anyone else's liking on my flying site, so no one ask's if they can have a go.

Marc,

Using your tank from the conversion kit, is it mandatory to have a fuel shut-off valve between the fuel tank and the pump? Especially while fueling.

I would say not but its your choice based on your situation/rules etc.

DjBac, I had to put the ecu in the nose as well, it sits as far forward as it goes, restricted by the length of the electronic wires between the ecu and the turbine. I had several flights with my bu32 with stock EDF, so I knew where I wanted the CG (115mm uat full, main tank empty). Full tank brings the CG to about 110mm.

Personally, I have a fuel shutoff valve on all my jets, as I want to be able to cut the fuel supply quickly if needed . Just remember to put the valve on the suction side of the pump.

@Marc, I am very happy with my conversion kit! Looks good, feels good (.....?!! Yeah I know) and works great. It is very easy to remove as well, if the need occures. I had to do it when I noticed I had plugged an extention servo wire wrong;( took me 3minutes in total.

Maiden the Habu today with a P-20sx (this is my first jet model).

All in all, 6 flights. It feels/flies like a larger bird, great tracking and ultra smooth landings.

Marc, your conversion kit work perfectly.

Add me to the list, Marc

Maiden for me today too with three fairly uneventful flights. The model needs some adjustments to suit my flying style but your conversion kit worked perfectly.

I'm not sure if this is a c.g. issue but mine pulls to the canopy in knife edge. I would normally suspect forward c.g. but, on occasion, it does appear to turn very tightly with moderate elevator input (which I'm worried might be aft c.g. related). Inverted needs almost no nose down so I don't want to move the c.g. back at the moment. Knife edge also requires some roll mixing and I think I overdid it and made it worse but didn't get a chance to have another flight to try out the new settings. I'll have a bit more of a play next time.

Mine needs a bit of up trim for level flight and I've also increased the aileron throw as my roll rate wasn't that sharp.

All that being said, it was easier to fly than I thought it would be and landings were easy peasy

......And also maidened my Habu32 with P-20SE last week. (2 jets in one week. )
I was disappointed with the Airworld Cougar, didn't like the way it fly. Now the Habu is total different ballgame.
I love the way it fly!

finally 11 months after getting Ali's pro conversion kit i'm in a position to get every thing else, but seems no one has any Jetcat P20's and the Habu 32's are just as rare with none at the supplier.
did manage to track down a Habu in the end, so the air frame and retracts are on their way.
I will give Al's another call tomorrow and get my name down for a P20 when they come in.
not sure what servo's to use, origionally thinking HS85MG or is there a better option?

I just finished installing a p-20 in my Habu and the C.G. is not even close to being correct. Did anyone have to add lead to the nose and if so how much? Thanks

Where do you have your batteries?

I have a small (1100mAh) 2 cell A123 for the RX and a smallish (1500mAh or so?) 2 cell lipo for the turbine, right in the nose. I think I had to dremel a tiny amount of the former away to get the Lipo in but by doing so you can get the weight well forwards. I don't think I needed any extra nose weight after doing this.

Mine has 2 Li-Po packs in the nose wheel area and I added some weight right in the nose. I built a second one for a customer and slotted out the front former and posted the Li-Pos into the nose for no nose weight. The model is always nose heavy with fuel in, so mine is set with 10mm fuel in the main tank, on the rear 115mm point.

Thanks for the information guys. Just one question; it sounds like you are just sliding the batteries through the former but how are you securing them since there is no access to the nose?

Put a bit of foam in to stop them moving around.

Mine aren't 'secured' but they're not going anywhere.

Gary,
I saw this clever approach on the Dutch jetforum: http://www.jetforum.nl/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=784
I'm also thinking of a Habu/P20...

I was also thinking about a hatch on the bottom, especially if I run Li-Po batteries. I would like to have access while charging so I can keep an eye on them.

Do you guys know the final weight of your planes with the larger batteries and the added weight in the nose?
