I am surprised they didn't ask you to bring a jet and do a demo.
When does the show air?

I told them Woodland should had open house soon at new location. I'll let them know the date to come out.
I show them bunch of my videos. Funny their even ask whom video it. It good steady hand for following fast moving aircraft. I told them you are looking at him.
Ben the camera man said. When ever you need part time job. Come and help me.

It will move in the direction the jet is pushing but slowly. Newton's law is in effect but the turbine thrust is partially cancelled out by the air hitting the sail, again Newton's law. If 100% of the energy of the air hitting the sail was converted into thrust the thing would stand still. However there will be losses so it will move in the durection the jet is pushing but more slowly.

Sean watch MythBuster very often. He love come back for second visit.
Tori and Grant give him tour around the shop showing him a lot stuffs.
The producer just love to have him around. Most kids drive them nut. But Sean just know what to do. As soon he hear 3-2-1. He kept quiet.

Tam! Thanks for sharing this story! Can't imagine him riding a jet powered skate board! IMHO....I think that the skate board will stand still, due to Newton's Law: For every action, there is an equal and oposite reaction. Or it does burn the sail.....lol.

The biggest energy loss will be the heating of the sail.

Tam, what is the sail made of?
*edit*... Just to be clear, the reference to 'Forward' is the direction the turbine wants to go in a normal set-up.. yes? [8D]

Like others have stated, I think it will obey Newtons third law and travel in the opposite direction of the airmass flow.
Which direction it that is, will depend on how effective the “sail” is at directing the air mass. If the majority of the airmass flows back towards the turbine, the skate board will travel sail first. If the majority flows around the sail, it will travel turbine first. If there is an even split it will stay still.
I suspect it will travel sail first.
I would like to see the same experiment using a proper aerofoil section shape sail, with the air directed to flow over the sail.
