Best thrust to weight ratio ducted fan jet?

    Hi,
what is the best ducted fan jet in terms of thrust to weight ratio, limited by a budget of around $100-200? The model should also be at least reasonably maneuverable, I'm not looking for a missile. :-)

of course it depends on the weight of the plane itself. for $2-300 you wont find much . I ca ntell you that a byron fan puts out about 13-15 lbs of thrust but they arent usually found in aerodynamically clean setups.....but they do fly larger jets

I don't care what the weight of the vehicle is as long as it has a good thrust to weight ratio.
What about e.g. this one? http://www.graysonhobby.com/catalog/...7972c7e3946824

    Nano

I think you mean Electric Ducted Fan Jet (EDF) 'Ducted Fan' are IC powered models somewhat from yesteryear.

To answer your question in respect of EDF I would advise any of the RC Lander smaller planes or the Phase 3 F16

ERHHH, Hold your plumbs big plums. He may mean IC DF and despite the latter day connotation, Paul Gray is correct, the OS/Ramtech is still the best combo. 200 usd might just get him some batteries!!! The best model is the jmp/yellow aircraft Starfire. This set up will keep up with most of the turbine or edf powered model. My pal Carl Jackson achieved 221 mph at Helchteren (pampa) a few years ago. Best wishes to all, Ron.

Very cool… NitroPlanes sells that in the USA. I’ve been looking at it, but I thought that it may not fly well since it was so small. I may need to order one. (the first vid was great)
