everyone's entitled to an opinion I suppose.
everyone's entitled to an opinion I suppose.
Sure but we're not entitled to our own facts, anyway all swell that end swell.
Modelers are attracted by our nature to drama, like uh...drama queens.
I recall when RAM first started selling turbines, the turbine owners were like cliff walkers, willing to follow their mfger anywhere.hahaha
I've been out of the hobby for 7 yrs, where did they go?
And those french guys who came out with the orginal turbines for sale?

Update & happy conclusion.
Wren received my turbine on 4th January. A couple of days later they commented that the cause appeared to be turbine wheel failure & they would repair my turbine free of charge. On the 26th January they e-mailed to say that my turbine was unrepairable & they were sending me a new turbine. This arrived today, with no charge for shipping.
As I said before, I have in the past, had disagreements with Wren, but I am very pleased with this service. I am sure many turbine manufacturers would at least make some charge for repairing an out of warranty turbine.
I exchanged many e-mails with Ron Ballard & would like to thank him for his help, which, I am sure, helped me greatly.
Wren UK at all times kept me informed of progress during this period.
My faith in Wren has been restored.

I agree with you, WREN is a good company and fair in business but too much conservative in design as a turbine maker.
You should first thank RC UNIVERSE.
Without such a forum, I am not sure that the conclusion would be the same.
Do not ask me why I know.

Ron Ballard AKA Wren USA is a stand up guy. I purchased a used engine and had to send it to him for service. He took care of me like had just purchased the turbine new from him.

RE: Wren 160 explodes
If this was a known issue, should not all those turbines effected have been recalled and the compressors replaced?
This was not just trying to get a free repair out of warranty this was a failure of a major component which was known about by wren, if the transformers in a TV were known to blow up, sony, bush etc would be recalling them whether it was left in the box for 2 years or not.
I have a friend who has the 160 in his jet, I dont think I would stand to close to it, as from what I heard about Martin's one, the compressor blade came out through the FOD screen, through the model, and through a timber shed it was being started beside.
I dread to think what would have happened if anyone had been standing in-line with it at the time. The front of the turbine is meant to be the safe end.

Why has my old thread been revived for no reason?
The problem I had with my Wren turbine was resolved to my complete satisfaction.
