Bickley Jets 2011 - sponsored by Al's Hobbies
After a year off Bickley MFC will be holding a jet event in 2011. The dates for the event are June 4/5 and as normal it will be any model type on the Saturday and jets/DF only on the Sunday.
As many will know the Bickley site is grass and not massive. It also has various restrictions which must be avoided at all times. These restrictions are the reason we did not hold the jet event in 2010 and are now even tighter than before. This means that the flying area will be as the Sunday of the last jet meet which did work very well but we did have the wind direction in our favor. Hopefully it will be again this year!
We simply cannot push our luck so bare that in mind when deciding what models to bring. Some of the larger/faster models that are around today are simply not suitable on our site and could potentially cause us as a club a lot of unwanted grief. Those that have been before know the score so I ask you all to be sensible with what you fly. by all means though bring models for static only.
Despite these restrictions we still always mange to have a fantastic, fun and relaxed weekend with a lot of great models and great pilots so I'm sorry to preach but it is VERY IMPORTANT!
This year we are asking for formal booking in and the relevant form will be available very soon. We may also ask for your £5 flying fee up front and are considering restricting the amount of pilots this year so it could be first come first served and a time limit on entrants.
Again, sorry to preach but as Bickley members will know, we have had a lot of issues over the last year with various things all of which thankfully have been sorted, but I don't want the jet event to damage us. But, with careful planning and pilots that conform, we can put Bickley back on the jet map!
So guys, here's the thread you've been waiting for but a pilots list will only build as I receive your forms and dosh!! However, that doesn't stop you posting your intentions to attend and pics of your models.
It also doesn't stop the witty banter happening but please please please lets not get personal this time. I have worked pretty hard to get the jet meet back to Bickley and want to be happy that I have. Lets get the buzz going, the juices flowing and look forward to another great event!!!!

That's not as silly as it sounds Mark.

If all pilots paid £50 instead of £5 we might have a chance

we owe the gun club nothing, we have the right to be there just as they do, as greg says if we stick to the 2009 flight line there wont be a problem. i realy hope we dont have to downsize the event from the 2009 bickley jets, other than the carparking being a bit tight at times the weekend went very well, limited nuimbers in the air as per last time should be fine, lets just manage the overflying.

The point really is how the model operates and how the pilot operates it. You need to be able to put it where you want it and not be chasing it round the sky which could lead to getting out of shape or in the wrong air space. make sense??

About 7 or 8 tears ago, when I was Secretary of the Hastings Club, we had a similar situation with a local fishing club, as there is a river running at the end of the runway, they were moaning about aircraft taking off over their heads, especially when they had a competition on.
The problem was resolved by agreeing with them that either club would notify each other when they were having an event and give each other clearance, which has worked to the extent that there has never been another issue or complaint.
If the Bickley club were able to get an agreement with the gun club that we could have a day off if they have a special event/contest, then maybe they would agree to be more lenient when we hold an event, rather like we do with the Concord Club for the Xmas Comp. A matter of sitting down at a table and coming to an agreement.
Will the club be doing the old hog roast again too? and maybe get Martin along for a singalong? that was the Bo***ck

Dean,
F15 looks great now!
I'll probably have none of the following quite ready to fly....
Airworld MB339/P200
Mibo A-10/2xP160
Tomahawk Hawk/P200
If I had to put money on which might be ready, it'll probably be the MB339.
Cheers
Mark
