Small SM Viper build NOW:Pictures!
Hi guys!
Just before Christmas i received my small (originally EDF) Viper from Skymaster. I had ordered the turbine version for the Wren 44 Gold.
It looked just great on arrival, as you can see from the silly look on my face! 2 hours later it was sitting on my hobby table, looking almost
ready to fly!
Thanks!
Tor

Hey Rex - what I should have done was to buy a Canadian Snowbird - then my plane and me would have the same description!!
So you're a D4S team pilot now - maybe I will have to bring my F-16 to the US for an upgrade!
Hope to see you at a jet meeting sometime - are you going to Florida jets this year?
Your squadron-mate Tor [8D]

Tor,
Upgrade! Your on the high end of creating the "bling". You have the best AB setup known to mankind!!!
Yes, on the team with D4S...Dan Gill is a great man with some awesome talent. Actually, the guy that does a lot of building with and for me (John Monaghan) is a dealer for D4S and I fly with their product quite a bit. John and I do Jets Over Kentucky, Mississippi Afterburner and Super Jets South so we will "man the table" at these events for Dan. It's an easy gig because Dan makes great stuff!
Not going to FL Jets this year...headed to PHX for Speed World/Desert Storm. Can't make both...work seems to get in the way at times! Agreed...Hope we can hook up sometime here.
Keep em' flying,
Rex

OK - pictures loading now: Placed hatch latches and front fasteners on the bottom hatch to avoid having to screw/unscrew 8 screws
everytime I want to inspect the turbine.
Turbine in place
Wing servos in place and screwed in the wing

Glued in the fuel and air tubes in the tank
The bottom of the fuse was so thin it would flex in and stay there. A piece of balsa with plywood squares took care of that
Turbine board screws into the plywood squares
Receiver and air board in place, both boards covered with a thin layer of epoxy

Nose wheel servo and steering in place, just missing the small springs to keep it out of the way when retracted
Tail servos in place, new Graupner 3288 BB MG type
Horns and slots in place, waiting for long servo arms

Probably not too far off the power to weight ratio of the big one with P160, IIRC there have been a few flown on 120 with good results, so yours should be a good combo.
Looking good btw!
