Does anyone know if power will be available at the new Field? Power or lack of power was my only gripe from last year.

If you have a jet that cant fly off that runway then you don't want it!
Look at the advantages of a nice grass strip, tyres/brakes last for ages, no paint scrapping of your wing tips and tailcone, much easier on a model in general. Probably wont even need brakes!

You guys are spoilt with endless use of hard runways, we only have one or two here, that we only get to use once/twice a year.

Hi RCPete-

Noone has access to the field as it is in an FAA controlled area and the nearest gate is nearly half a mile from the flying site. I drive by it every day to work but can't see anything!

Grass is just starting to come out of a dormant state down here in FL. Frank has a pro looking after the field and the report as of last week is that all is well with the field. It will be rolled and mowed within the next week or so and the watering cycle is being ramped up. Should be in excellent shape for the event!

OK, here goes, Frank, you listening, before I travel 1800KM. with my Kingcat, question, are Kingcats, Reactions, etc. going to be banned from the grass runnway. Those birds can do alot of grass trail burning.

Tell Jacqui I got some really b1tchin wing and stab bags for a Lightning and a Tucano she needs to check out...they are the most premium of quality I have ever seen!

Maybe I'll let her take a picture or two of them if she wants too also...LOL!

We could scorch the grass all week long and in 10 days you would never know anyone had been there. Since FJ is probably going to morph slowly into a "sport Jet" event, I am sure you will be allowed to fly...I'm gonna fly the BoliCat..

I can see it now...BVM being probably the largest vendor on site having it's most popular aircraft banned from flying? Naah...no way.

I was able to look at the runway today but we had to do a weird approach on the way in because a 737 was on the ramp so it was from a distance. Then after landing I tried to walk over to the runway and their was a ditch in the way so I could not get all that close. But what I can say is the grass is very green and looks to be in great shape from a distance. It also looks like the new museum right next to the new site is done.

I had to go back to lakeland airport today. I was very happy to see the tree line to the east of the runway has been all taken out. They where almost done with it. Also I saw them rolling the runway. Its hard to see from my cell phone camera but you can see the roller next to a car.

I also snapped some shots of other planes sitting right at the entrance to the new site.
