RE: Brakes and cold weather
Might as well, that lube actually mostly fixed the problem, but it would be nice to have a quality replacement. I wish I had some calipers, I would be interested in the differences in our wheel/brake size, etc.
It may be some crazy metric size that McC doesn't carry - mine looks to be exactly OD = 30mm, ID = 20mm, W = 5

RE: Brakes and cold weather
Many thanks to all who replied to this thread. I had no luck this last week finding anything locally so that I could try it again this weekend. Then I remembered that our newest turbine-guy is also a diver. He knew exactly what I was talking about, went to his favorite dive shop and picked me up a 2oz. jar of "Trident" brand "pure silicone grease". It's a multiple-lifetime supply, but what the hell, it was only 8 bucks. I'll cold-soak the F-16 tomorrow at the field and see what happens. The jar will reside in my flightbox, so anyone that shows up with a container is welcome to some. Even you, Roy. I'll post my results as soon as the weather allows a flight or two.
