HELP WITH CONNECTING GASPAR FADEC TO MY PC PLEASE
HI
I am trying to down load my last 52 mins of run data to my pc. I have the correct programe on the pc showng the panel with rpm, temp, gauges ect. before the programe opens a pop up box says "port not availible on this computer"
when open It says "FADEC NOT FOUND" the fadec is conected to my pc via the correct usb cable and the pc has acknoledged its connection, the fadec is powered up via r/x and ecu battery.
I have clicked on the "configuration tab" and tried all 8 ports, unfortunatly I get the same message every time "port unavaible on this computer" I have tried pluging in via another USB port and tried all 8 options from the above tab and got the same result ? please advise

I am FAR from an expert...but I plug mine in with ONLY the USB cable ... no batteries.
Worth a try!
Good Luck!

Jetflyer is right, I don't have any power on the ECU when downloading, just the USB cable connection.
Once you have downloaded cut and paste into Excel or Numbers on the iMac and you can then graph the results with an overlay of the data on top of each other i.e. Temp vs Throttle position all interesting stuff.

Did you install the USB-driver? This is a separate file and not part the FADV4 or FADV5 program.

You didn't say if you had a usb cable or a serial cable. ether way you can go to your device manager an see what port you can use. I use com1 with the serial cable and and com 7 with ther usb. If no port show up in your device manager they may need to me enable in your bios at startup.

any idear were I can find the usb driver for download ? gaspars instructions are far from comprehensive, but I thought that they said that this was not neccesary.
i am sure that this is a pc issue because as soon as I start the programe I am told that no ports are availible, ecu connected or not.
thanks for all input so far

RE: HELP WITH CONNECTING GASPAR FADEC TO MY PC PLEASE
when I plug in the the usb the pc is say that the device is not recognised, no other prompts are given.
downloading the driver to my desk top has given me 7 shortcuts to different files , the first icon appears to be the driver ( ftd2wx.dl)double clicking on it ,promps a pop up asking what programe I would like to use to open it, which programe should be selected, I have tried several but all seem to be unsuitable.

Is it a genuine FADEC USB cable? The software download page at http://www.espiell.com/soft.htm has some info on driver installation.

unplug the cable.
ok I have got this far.
and I have unpacked the zip file onto my desk top.
when I re plug the usb cable, I do not get a choice of driver selection, just the same old "device not recognised"
when I go to device manager-usb- and right click it asks me if I would like to install the driver from a specific location, I select desk top, but still it does regognise a suitable driver on the desk top GRRRR !

somehow you need to find the old drivers and manual remove them.
try to go in device manager again click on the usb driver and try to replace it.
sometime plugging it into a other usb port can make a difference
