Hi, all

the Li Kai just called me and said another new A-10 in Taipei flied very well for the maiden.
There is no issue with landing gear for 120psi air pressue.

but the catch of engine cover is damaged by air flow. Please check the photo.

This hatch catch installation is not strong enough.

We strongly suggest customers who have A-10 mount the engine hatch with more screws according to instructions in manual.

Best Regards

Anton

Morne,

Have you lost/removed the turbofans? Any reason?

Mark,

I had the prototype version of fans. It was not installed scaled. I am waiting for the new set that includes the ducting. Also i managed to chip one fan blade. Now it is out of balance and vibrating too much. So i took out both fans. I really can not tell the difference with or without fans....

All i can say is, that if they are not balanced and start vibrating, it will quickly destroy itself....i was lucky to remove before any further problems.

The blades are strong enough for normal operation....inspections are needed for FOD damage to make sure fan is not out of balance...

Regards

Morne

I know Ali has had several flights on his now, most of them followed by a big smile so hopefully he can chime in with his views. I'm particularly interested in comparisons to the Mibo A-10......

There are a few pictures floating around on the Bickley thread but I appreciate its a rather long one to pick through.....

25kgs dry but there has been some nose weight added now. There were a few issues one relating to a turbine which got sorted and the other is that the gear sometimes folds away when turning on but its very hard to replicate so now its supported by two people before switch on just in case. That's all I know about it other than it looks to fly nicely.

ALex,

You need to rebind the system with the wheels in down posision. It was binded in retract posision and maybe after binding the channel were reversed on radio or valve....

Hi Morne

lol

Not surprisingly that was the first thing I did when it happened to me in the workshop on the stands, since then its been re bound lots of times and the cause cannot be traced it all works fine but on the odd occasion it still happens so better safe than sorry.

Awesome picture Alex! Many of us are waiting for Ali's report of flying the SM A10...... come on my friend it's time for your devoted fans to get us some info
Alex, almost done with wing moving surfaces and I managed to put the Aile linkage inside one of the pods as you suggested..... lots of space there! thanks for the info my friend.

Anton, great great video you post it from your friend flying in Taiwan. The A10 looks superb in the air and the landing was soo smooth.

Working on mine!

Ohh yes..... but the only way to do it is by grinding a little bit thoese BVM screws and then remove some of the material on the covers from inside around the location of the screws. The cover will flush just right but you need to be carefull using the dremel. This is a technique that works with all of my SM covers for the servos.

My plan is to put 2 P160SX..... I already have one so I just need to order the scond one. I would probably dial down the trust on the 160SX to a similar level as 120 SX.
The dimensions and weight of each turbine is about the same..... plus later I have more choices to do with 160 rather than 120.

I saw from the video that Anton provided from Taiwan they where using Kingtech 170..... that has a little bit more trust than a 160SX..... I wonder if they dial down thoese turbines.

Hmmmm, same size and weight as a 120SX so I guess, like you say, you may as well have the extra power.

Mark,

I think the 120sx are more than enough.... and I am not fan of over power jets! I just want them to fly scale and if I need the power I have it

My dilema.... is to buy 2 brand new 120sx or just one 160SX as I already have one at home with minimum use? I like saving some money there. All I can say to future A10 builders..... when you are building an A10 is almost as building 2 jets at the same time in terms of expenses trust me on this one

Yes, I agree. If you're not going to dial them down then throttle management is key. 160s are more usable afterwards but, as you say, just makes the cost go up and up !!!
