That looks so good Big Dal. The weathering came up insane. Now time to fire up those 160s and get her moving lad.

Hi dalbe,
I'll try and get up to Maitland on Sunday as well. Got my noew Rookie ready to go, put in 2 flights a couple of weeks ago but was too hot to head up today. (37 deg @ Gosford). I know a few of the Syd boys are planning on getting up there Sunday as well.

Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh!! Looks GREAT!!

Cheers

Dallas

Very nice finish and a neat installation in very cramped internal space. Wow that did turn out extremely heavy at 20.12 Kg. Mine was with 2 P60's was 14.08Kg, and the prototype with 2 Rabbits was 15.55 Kg. I am worried that it is hugely overpowered and you will have to be very careful. Very few of these models have been flown and yours is by far the heaviest and with by far the most thrust. If I was in your place I would not dream of flying off grass with the weight you have as the U/C gear and retracts is not that strong. The screws on mine all came loose after 2 or 3 flights and I had to take them completely out and strip them down and loctite all the screws. Also make sure you check the aluminium brackets that hold the wing spars and the taileron spars do not work loose. Again mine did after only a few flights. They are a pain being a mix of US and metric threads and difficult to reach as you will find. I just hope the airframe holds together. Good luck.

Hi John

Thanks for the heads up. I removed the retracts and striped and reasembled with locite when I first got the plane and also I have checked and tightened every spar bolt as every one from the factory were very loose same as taileron and rudder spars. This is my third Feibao and by far the one that has required the most amount of work. Yes 2 160s is overpowered but I already had one and they are only 0.2 of a pound differnce to a P80 in weight I will fly it carefully. As for 20 kg well theres nothing I can do about that it has what it needs in it and no more hopefully it will be fine will keep a close eye on everything . I have posted here before about the CG got no replys Is the factory Cg they recommend ok

Thanks Dallas

Dallas

The factory position is ok though we used 10mm ahead of the factory position just to be on the safe side. I feel relieved that you did all the checking and tightening, which is absolutely necessary. Some of the screws are very hidden away as no doubt you found. Did you make any improvement to the servo arrangement on the tailerons? On the larger twin F15 models they fit 2 servos. Also I do hope the tailerons are of sound enough construction internally. I witnessed Colins Mirage F1 on its Maiden flight.

The one plus is that we found the plane was like flying a trainer.

Good luck to you.

John

John

Thanks for that I have come 5mm forward of what they recommened and will try it there The tailerons are how it came from the factory apart from putting some more Hydrosol around the joints inside the fuse and I balanced the tailerons and it has 32kg Futaba Servos and also I have used none of the Feibao links as I don't think they are up to the job will keep a close eye on it and hope that internally the tailerons are ok.

Thanks Dallas

Hi Dallas, Looks BEAUTIFUL. I am very anxious to hear and see how it Maidens. I've flown models for over 60 years, from free flight to turbines. I also flew the REAL stuff in the USAF, from T-6, T-28, T-33, F-86, T-38, F-102, F-106 and more. I just want to congratulate you on a "Job Well Done" Attached a few of my Many pictures.
