Need for Speed - Baiojet !
Here's some pics of my new project for a Kolibiri.
The Baiojet from SAB
Its about the size of a Multiplex Funjet but fully composite.
Should be close to 300km - atleast thats wht it was clocked at in Jetpower 2010
Heads Up Mahalaxmi !
Dont know how Martin Schemp kept it in sight

RE: Need for Speed - Baiojet !
Great bird. I have one, and will build it for electric drive for now - but come winter, which we have a lot of here in Norway[:@], and I will get another one and install a Kolibri in it. Which Kolibri are you using? Which tank? And please more pics
Were there any difficulties in installing the turbine? And - will you fit the Carnards?
Good luck onwards with your project, I will be watching it closely

RE: Need for Speed - Baiojet !
Hi 1_Helihover_1,
I have been flown one Baio as electric and I think its a waste because its not any faster than a Funjet Ultra as electric.
IMHO this airplane needs a Turbine - Electric doesnt do justice Im using the 2.5 Kg Kolibiri
The tank Im using is a cylindrical 250ml fiberglass tank that is used in a OPUS GLIDER
I havent decided on the Canards but probably yes i will use the canards because I will need the additional weight of the servo in the front !
No Rudders - Knife edge @ 300Ks is beyond my capability LOL
Im using a single 1200mA A123 unregulated into 7ch JR 2.4 receiver , Futaba S3150 servos x 3 and 800ma 2 cell Lipo for ECU

RE: Need for Speed - Baiojet !
Very nice! What is the dry weight of the plane? Do you think it will hand launch like a FJU or will you need a bungee? Reading the forums 300km/h is with the T32 engine that produces about 1kg of thrust less.

Henke
The Empty weight as per the Instructions (ELECTRIC) Is 1.0-1.8Kg
The Baiojet that was demoed at the Jetpower by Martin Schemp was with only a 1.5kg Kolibri and it was tooo fast
I could barely keep sight of it

RE: Need for Speed - Baiojet !
Hi Xantos
Thanks for the additional info - greatly apprechiated. Then I will go hot from start, no electrics - just turbine on the Baio. After all I have the FJUltra, which makes minced meat of the electrons - so no need to repeat that

There is one out for sale BNF (Futaba Rx) with a Kolibri T25 engine. Mint condition and a really high visibility scheme PM for contact info.
A rather dull video of the maiden.
