Default JR 9303 versus JR10X for jets.

Gents,

I have been flying jets for awhile. My set-up on sport jets is to use my Tracker III radio with the Seeker II receiver. It has worked fine. Then, I moved up....

My last jets have been equipped with the 12-20 Gyro/GPS Weatronics receiver. I borrowed a friends JR9303 to use with the Weatronics receiver. Seems like a great combination.....I really like the Weatronics receiver. Best idea ever!!!

So, I wish to return the borrowed JR 9303 and purchase a JR radio (never thought I'd say that). So, I'd like some thoughts on the two last FM/PCM JR radios. They are the 9303 and 10X. I choice to do JR so that my friend and can swap 'programming' and back each other up at events.

So...from the JR users. May I receive some comparison thoughts? Which is easiest to program? better features on which? General thoughts.

And please, no you should jump to 2.4 GHz equipment. Still not convinced on how fool proof it is. Close, but I am not there yet.

Thanks,
Dave

I've owned both the 9303 and 10X and for me, the 9303 has a more intuitive user interface. The 10X may have a few more mixes available and some additional points on the throttle curve, but I felt the 9303 was the better radio. Keep in mind the 9303 came out AFTER the 10X, so it should be better. If you want to stick with FM, why not just get a 12X with the FM module? You'll get the user interface of the 9303, but with more functionality.

I'm still using my JR9303 72 mhz, love it and trust it. I'm like you

But if i'm going to go 2.4 i would switch to Futaba 8ch and do the upgrade to 12 ch.

The 10x is a much more capable radio, but I found the programming is more difficult that the 9303 which is dead easy by comparison...

Well, the 10x might have advantages, but calling a dedicated airplane radio for more capable than a radio handling both air/sail/heli... I don't know.

I've also owned both, and I do not miss the 10x nowdays, specially when starting at flying helis too.

I currently have both a 10SXll and a few 9303's. Both 72 and 2.4 Both radios programs are beyond the capability of the average modeler. I have to read the owners manual regularly to remember all the amazing options/mixes/flight modes/ available.

In my area both frequencies are bullet proof.

I have both a 10x and a DSX 9 (which is our 2.4 GHz version of the 9303). I originally purchased the DSX as an upgrade from the 10x, but nowadays I only use it for flying my helis. I still prefer my trusty 10x for my jets. It has 3 position D/R switches where as the DXS9 is a “flight mode” radio. I don’t really like using flight modes for fixed wing (a personal preference.)

I also think that the older JR radios like the 10x were built to a higher quality standard then the current crop of JR/Spectrum equipment, but again, that is just my opinion.

My 10x has now been fitted with Weatronics 2.4 GHz equipment, and this makes it an extremely versatile and powerful radio.

just to clarify..the 10 has features such as triple rates, quad flaps, touch screen, etc etc etc...and mixes such as crow are easier to accomplish. Ability to handle other platforms was not part of the original question, and falls outside my definition of capable. Now, having defended the 10x, I still much prefer the 9303 for being easier to use.

I have both as well, and I prefer the 9303 too. Programming is very easy , the 10 X program is older and you really have to plan ahead what you're doing. Spent all day last week trying to program the quad flap feature to get crow braking for a MB339 and gave up , it took only 5 minutes doing the same with the 9303. Switch assignement is also more convenient on the 9303.
If you really need the 10th channel then you should consider the MX-22 MX-24
