Well the elevator servos are in not as difficult as I thought. The rear end looks a bit of a linkage nightmare but it all works nicely and is slop free and that is the most important thing.

Would be nice to have some instructions so that I knew what the control throws were. For the CG I will go with a little ahead of the wheels and will also copy the other 2 migs I have which fly well. Will set it a bit nose heavy to start with.

So that is all the servos and retracts in now just got to think about that dam tank

Well it has been a little while as I have been faffing around with other things and as usual work gets in the way . I have also been sweating over the fuel tank arrangement so have been dithering there.

Well on my trip to Bickley jets I stopped off at TJD Models and hanging all alone was a nice little 400 cl tank that almost matched my other 400 cl tank.

I therefore now can get in 800 cl with an additianal 90 cl header in the bottom of the fuz. Not pretty like me but I think it will work

You can borrow my air gun if you wish.

Did not meet up at Bickley jets, but if you arrived on the Sunday at anytime between 0900 and 1200 I was on car parking duty so we did possibly meet.

I have to admit I did not stare at your legs in the car to see if you had shorts on. I was the good looking chap in the green fleece and hat.

Well after various little diversions I am back on the Mig as the weather is so terrible here in Suffolk

I found some of my wifes christmas decoration silver paint so I painted the inside of the wheel wells. It is white foam so be carefull what paint you use in case it might disolve it.

I also put the famous foil tape over the servo wires from the elevators and rudder to keep them away from the hot thrust pipe. Having an elevator wire melt through can seriously spoil your days flying

So on to the fuel system. I have made a little header tank that will fit out of a 3 oz tank from Giant cod. I am using the small size tygon between the tanks and the large size fuel clear fuel pipe that came with the turbine. Lets see how it will all fit. The header has a centre pick up which is only an open ended pipe but I have used these before to good effect

We have had little rain in the UK for a while but lots of gusty high wind. It is windy today and threatens rain so I am going to crack on and see if I can nearly finish her this week end

Here are the tanks in. Not the best looking installation but I can get over 860 ml in and I am pleased with that. I am also pleased that it is reasonably near the CG.

You can see that I always put a short piece of Tygon over the smaller Tygon by stretching it over a pair of long nose pliers then pushing the smaller tygon inside it. This helps to hold it tight on the metal pipe.

I also use a simple clamp as well as a bung on the fill line. These cost £2.99 for 5 and are well worth it. These are also what I use as the fuel cut off when filling. Nice and small and light. Especially good in a small Jet.

The header tank/air trap is the small tank beneath the other 2

Well I have got most of the equipment in and I have to say it was quite a task. I still have the batteries to go in but I have a place for those. It is not prety but there is a lot to go in a small space and also the scale cockpit takes up quite a lot of room.

Hope to go flying tomorrow but she is nearlyu there.

Jobs left to do.

1) Fix the turbine
2) Install the jetpipe
3) Mount the switch
4) secure the batteries
5) balance her, I am fairly certain she will need some lead in the nose

Dennis A coss-brace on wing joiner may be needed. If you look at the pictures of the red one at HK, the latest production has a brace. I'm waiting for one but we have a postal strike again.

I looked at that and with the turbine and everythink else that is in the way I dont think that will be possible. It is actually quite strong and the turbine mounting will help a bit.

The pic of the red one also doesnt show any mounts or magnets on the hatch that were present on the silver one so perhaps these are early pics. There might be a way to cross brace but I cant see it easily at the moment.

Thanks for the comment

Hi Dennis,
The first thing you must do on a sun day morning must be to go on rc universe at 7.40 am probably before breakfast.Any way you should have it ready for wed nights BBQ at Raydon, wind should be straight down the runway .Barry may even bring his hunter to maiden too.

The Ugly police are after you.

Now that was excellent service from Hobby King 11 days from Hong Kong to the UK, and the red one has arrived. I am going to do this one electric. Strange thing is though it looks like the exact same mig but in red. It came in an unmarked box however. The silver one was in a Pro EDF Box and the silver one had all the mounts in the middle of the fuz which was handy for the P20.

The red one however has no mounts at all in the centre and all the mounts are in the rear hatch which will be fine I think with 2 big 3 cell 5000 mah lipos up the front.

Here are a few pics
