Default Comp ARF Eurosport control bearings

Hey guys, help me out. I picked up the dreamworks canard control bearings but not sure how to install them. Do I bore into the inside wood support and fit them into it? If so, how have you gone about this?

Thanks
Joe

When you say wood support, are you talkng about the "P" brackets ? Here you can see the tops of my homemade 1/4" ply "P" brackets which have the bearings installed. The brackets with bearings are aligned at the end of the canard tube and Hysol glued to the vertical support.

Found a few more pics in the early stage of the install.

Thanks for the response. Do you have to make new P brackets or can you use the existing one. I was hoping not to tear out the structure.

Not sure I follow what you are saying. Were P brackets installed and not drilled for fitting of the bearings ? If that is the case, then you may have to remove the P brackets and make new ones. Have any photos of your current setup ?

I am at work, so no pictures, but you are right. I am talking about the existing installed P-brackets. They are not set up to take a bearing. I guess I will have to try to open them up or take them out and make new ones.

Hi,

What are the benefits of this modification and is it necessary ?

Does the stock carbon shaft inside metal tube cause the canard angle resolution to be reduced and notchy ?

Thanks.

Julian

The carbon rods are not always round and the tube the same, I check the carbon rod with a vernier and sand the over size high spots off. I then check the rod fit in the tube-having de-burred each end of the hole. If there is any play I coat the carbon rod with thin CA and then sand with fine wet n dry. I get a nice smooth action doing this. Enjoy your Evo

If I remember correctly, the bearings are 6X12 mm. You could take a long drill bit and use the tube as a guide. Going in from the outboard side of the tube, drill a pilot hole in the P bracket and then use the pilot hole as a centering to progressively size the hole so the bearing is a snug press fit inside the P bracket. A right angle adapter for a standard drill would come in handy here in sizing the hole from the inside.
