Based on experiences, what would make one decide between a p80se and a p100??

What would the differences be in the flying capabilities?

Thanks
Tony

The P100 puts out as much power as the P80SE I belive but is a lighter engine and I would guess it's a faster spooling engine.

Ignoring the cost difference, the P-100 is definitely the way to go. The T is a tail heavy airplane, requiring substantial nose weight. The 100, being lighter in the back end, also means correspondingly less weight in the nose for balance. Furthermore, its more efficient. You'll fly longer or further reduce your takeoff weight by using less fuel to fly the same time.

We flew a pair of T's at FJ this year (Todd's and mine), what a great all-around stress-free plane. Although on the maiden of mine, it induced plenty of stress when I went to check the flaps. I slowed down and started feeding flaps, then just as I was reaching full, it rolled hard right and was on its back and nose pointed straight for the ground. I pulled the flaps out, added a little power and ended up recovering about 3-5' above the ground, fortunately I was high enough when I tried them. I did a lap and all felt okay, so I tried a little flap (I have them on a slider so I have complete control of flap movement) and started to roll right again, so flaps were not an option. After landing, the right flap was found "dangling", the linkage had popped out of the control horn. We reattached, secured with tubing and flew it all week.

I have 15 oz. of lead shot and an entire tube of Hysol 608 in the very front of the nose cone along with 4 LiFe batteries up front; and the CG is just about perfect at the front edge of the wheel well openings. It has a K-100, electric gear/brakes and SBUS. I thought this would be a good candidate to try SBUS for the first time.

I guess I should have done more research before asking the question about which engine.

It should have been the p90 or the p100.

The 100 is about 1 pound lighter, has 1-2 pounds less thrust and spins 20,000 more rpm and is 300-400 more dollars.

Tony,

Any of the engines you mentioned will work. The 80 will only suffer in the vertical. To be honest, the 100 is just about too much straight & level at full throttle, but that is easily controlled with the "go" stick. You can always change engines if you don't like the 80, but I think you'll enjoy nonetheless.

Trying to get out today and put some more flights on it.

Hello:

do you see my tanks ? I made 2 versions of tanks for the Turbinator, in 3L and 2,6L of capacity.
The cost of tank is 60€ and the post to USA is over 25€ aprox.
Regards from Spain.
Carlos.

Most if not all reports indicate that more thrust than the 100 provides is not necessary.

Regarding the wt difference: The 90 is .8 lbs heavier and will require approx .4 additional lbs nose wt, for a total difference of 1.2 lbs additional gross weight. As this would practically negate and gain in thrust, the 90 would just give you a heavier airplane for no benefit IMO.

Had the maiden flight of my turb today, k100 kingtech and prolink electric retracts and brakes.

Absolutely excellent, such a confidence inspiring aircraft. Flys like its on rails and really aerobatic.

Its a keeper and i LOVE it. And yes the 100 is more than enough power

Thank to every one on here with there help and ideas.

Awesome, The Turb is the best kept secret in RC jets if you want a club field airplane.

Is the Turbinator still available? Not listed on Shulmans website and no reply yet to email. I see DreamWorks has two schemes but prefer the red and white version.....

The red white and blue scheme is no longer on the DreamWorks website.

I agree. I was going to buy one to Replace my Boomerang Sprint/Faclon Combination but they are no longer making parts for this plane either.
I don't want to take the chance of needing something and not being able to get it. Now I need to continue my search for an everyday fun flyer..

Bought the last one at KY Jets this year, had Todd bring it up on the trailer to negate the shipping on this large box. Thanks again!
