Ok.
I just took 89 pictures of this jet and will post them all. But first, who can tell me what this assortment of items is? They were packed together in a bag. I have an air kit with the jet that has air tanks and the usual fittings and valves. But this is a syringe with a jar of what looks like silicone shock fluid that is used in R/C car shocks. What is it for? The struts? Also look at this weird tank with strange fitting on one end and A brass nipple on the other. What is this for? Also look at the fitting on the nose gear strut. The silver nipple shown in this assortment does not fit that.

Hi Woody, this stuff is to ajust with oil and air the resistance on the nose wheel, go on the skymaster site and in the airplane manual section , scroll down and you will see oil damper instruction.

Mike.
I just looked at the Manual and the video. Are the gear pre-set from the factory or do you need to do this procedure during the build?
Thanks!

I'm going to start posting my pictures and giving my impression of the parts of this kit as the pictures go up. In general, I am very happy with the quality of this kit. The finish is superb...too bad my camera can't properly capture the quality and detail of the surfaces. My pictures seem blurry and with out much resolution. Too bad because the paint on this model is excellent. The surfaces are loaded with details such as rivets and hatches. The weathering is just right. The areas of the exhaust nozzles, under side of fuse and stab have a real nice effect going on. Some special airbrush work that looks 3 dimensional and creates a great look for those areas. All of the markings and nomenclature are painted on. No decals anywhere. This looks very nice. The nomenclature is perhaps a bit too large and puffy for scale but for what I am doing I think it is fine. Ok...here come the photos.

I was surprised by the addition of a Skymaster hat! That will look great at the field. I opted for the $65 upgrade to the Kevlar tanks. I have burst a couple tanks in my day during fueling so I feel these are worth the extra money. I was happy to see aluminum brackets for mounting the servos. These are fantastic and in my opinion superior to the cheaper plastic units found in other manufacturers kits. I was surprised to see genuine Sullivan clevis included with my kit! The air control kit contained the usual items along with some nice looking valves that had a nice mounting bracket attached to them.

The camera did not capture all the surface detail that exists on the stabs. The airbrushing looks amazing in person but again that did not transfer too well in the photos.

Dom you will like that jet. I'm finally getting comfortable flying my big Skymaster F4. I flew her last weekend with ordnance. She did great. I did wreck the turbine though by using fuel without oil... long story.. bearings are trashed. Good thing the engine held up until I got her on the ground.

Its not just for the nose gear Dom, it is for all 3 gear. If I were you I would bleed and charge the system, usually they are not setup from the factory. If you do it right the landing gear work amazing!!!

Thanks everyone....well except Rich and Bob...LOL.
Here are e few more pics before I am off to work. The nose section....note the carbon fiber reinforcement where the fuse halves screw together. The IR Seeker under the nose appears to be a separate piece that is glued in place. Looking inside the fuse, the nose section is not recessed in that area. Mine must have been bumped since it is loose at the front. I will have to tack it back down. The seeker may serve as a good skid if the nose gear were to fail.

The nose gear door are fitted extremely well....Ha..no pun intended. The airlines are all nicely routed. I will remove the gear to paint them and reinstall them with Blind nuts and machine screws. The airline looks good. Not sure if I will use it or swap it out for the Tam stuff. The retracts look very beefy and well made. I will get some close ups of them when I pull them out for paint. That's it till after work.........................more pics later.

No. I wish it did too. Although I never used the inflatable type. I always worry about readily available replacement rubber. Does anyone in the U.S. stock replacement rubber for Skymaster wheels?

I was surprised by the addition of a Skymaster hat! That will look great at the field.
Hey Dom,

The plane looks great. I was really pleased to see that the cockpit fits the canopy (the cockpit for SM's large F-4 requires a lot of rework to fit). The IR seeker under the nose is a separate piece that's glued on the large F-4 so it's probably the same on the small F-4. Also, a standard modification on the large F-4 is to double up the nose gear mounting rails by mounting another piece of plywood above the existing rail. There is a lot of weight on the nose gear and those rails have been known to break.

That free SM hat even matches those T-shirts that you bought. You'll look great at the field in your new ensemble!!!

The inflatable type are nice. Skymasters hold air well. They provide very nice landings. You can get them from BVM
