Spring Air Retracts
HI Guys.
What's the go with spring Air, a mate of mine orded a nose leg 3 months ago for his five jet and after a number of unanswered emails he is preety p**st off as we have got a jet meet comming up on the 11th of next month, they grabed his money quick enough, and thats the last he has heard from them. If any body has had any dealings with them I would like to know how you got on good or bad.
Regards
Mav

RE: Spring Air Retracts
I ordered a nose gear about 3 weeks ago and still waiting for it. It is a simple belly mount cable steering type. I talked to a person on the phone early last week (9 Aug) to check on the status and I was told they are swamped with a project for "Modelbrau". I was hoping my simple item would have been an off the shelf type thing but I guess everything is made to order. I don't mean to hijack thread but if anyone has a Series 200 Belly mount nose gear with a cable steer, I am willing to purchase it. It will go on a Electric pusher Bobcat 50 coming in at 6 lbs. Thanks

This is the price you pay for products made over seas. When an item goes out of stock it can take months for the factory to retool and make the parts and then comes the looong boat ride.

I thought Spring Airs were made in a factory down in Florida by Bill Waldon???? I may be mistaken and it matters not as long as I (and others) can get the product in a reasonable time. If you know where they are made please share the info. Thanks

RE: Spring Air Retracts
Hey Mav, I was asking kmrcjets the question about his post.
Anyway I did call Bill to let him know about this post and he will check into it when he gets into the shop tomorrow.
Also paypal is who he is setup with for payment over the internet...unfortunitly when you check out on their site
it requires payment something Bill doesn't like but is stuck with. He would much rather have them pay when he is
ready to ship. I think if you call him direct he can do this.

RE: Spring Air Retracts
I have been using Spring Airs for more than 20 years and they are good functioning retracts at a good cost. A little hard to find complete sets/parts/accessories at the local hobby shops around my area but supply and demand rules. Thanks for the topic.

Mavrick!
Here is a NIB nose gear, but might be too small for your jet. Might get it sooner.

Your not alone. I had the same problem with them until I spoke with the owner directly. The units worked as advertised however getting them is a different story. "Robarts" have the same problem. If you want service and an excellent product purchase "Sierra Retracts" from Daryell. You get what you pay for.

I've owned several sets of Sierra's gear and they are the best scale gear going IMHO but unless
its a run he is making or made you may have a very very long wait. Check the threads as there
have been a few.
Also don't get the "You get what you pay for" statement as delivery has nothing to do with that.

RE: Spring Air Retracts
I take offence to you remark about "you get what you pay for". "Sierra" retracts far exceed the quality of "Spring Air". "Sierra" retracts are double the price of "Spring Air" and most modelers will wait patiently to obtain them. That is not the case with "Spring Air". The bottom line is what is the intendede purpose of the retracts.
