Dave any chance you could shoot a pic of your main retract install? My retracts don't seem to fit right. The front side has about a 1/4" gap between retract and gear block when the back side sits on the block.

Anything else I can photo again, not sure I 100% understand your issue

Dave

Doug-Oh you mean on the stepped mounting lug?

Those mounting lugs look very small to me. Not much margin for error on the spacing of the mounting rails

Dave,

I'm looking for a big Mig-15 but as there are none out there I'm forced into looking for something P100 sized. I assume you have flown it now but I haven't seen any pics/comments.

Was considering this whilst the C-ARF Mig-15 goes through its MLU.

What do you think of it?

Cheers,
Mark

Yes, flew it that weekend. I've not commented as the model ended up much heavier than ideal and although it flew OK, it is way too heavy as produced and I wanted to talk with Mike at JP. GJC are working on the model now to reduce the weight and we agreed some changes. My aeroplane is straight and needed no trim, the gear and doors worked perfectly (though the main springing is too light for its present weight) It's hung here waiting for the new version and I'll swap the equipment over. Don't expect anything new before Xmas.

OK, thanks for info.

I think I'll pester Hans-Dieter or Andreas into doing a 160 size Mig-15......don't fancy my chances but one can ask hey!

Dave, yes the lugs. My gear doesn't sit down likw it should. I'm hopeing a little Dremel work might get it there.

Mick, I love the airplane. Me and Mike have talked a very long time about doing this Mig. I tried to get him to do a RF-84 in the same size, but he just ahd to much going on. Maybe later.
I have had several different jets from different factories and this is by far the best. Great Paint also. I'm hopeing mine is the lightened version from Dave's, as MIke said his only came out at 21 lbs RTF.

I'll have to look better at the gear tonight.

Also what about the wood pieces? I got 4 pairs of wood parts.

Doug,

Which four parts of wood? I got the pro version i.e all installed in the factory and it all fits :-)

I am also aiming for the 21/22 lbs dry weight....

Mick

Hello,
we, Final-Modellbau, took the display MiG 15 from GJC at JetPower with us.
Mike told us, it is a prototyp, to heavy and for display purposes.
But the MiG looks so good, that I started building.
Now I have a dry weight of 17,6 lbs (nearly exactly 8 kg), with all equipment (servos, batteries, wires, valves) but without the turbine and may needed lead.
Which turbine I install, I can not say yet (have to buy it).
P 100, BF 100 or JetsMunt Merlin.

Hello

I am new to Jets although I do fly several IC and electric models. I am wanting to start to fly Jets and was thinking initially of a sports type Jet but now I am wondering if a more scale mode would be more appropriate. Do you think that this mig would be ok as a first Jet.

Thanks

Bob

Really depends on your personal skill level, nothing difficult about flying any of the Mig 15's available, but they are often not the easiest models to land because of the tail down sit. GJC offer a range of kits, speak with Mike or Cyndi and I'm sure they can advise more

You will need weight, so go for a light turbine. On mine the main legs were fully compressed ready to fly, with some fuel in the tanks

Many thanks Dave

I had originally thought that I might buy the Tornado from ModelbauUSA but I have been put off that. I also have been told that the Mig 15 sometimes bounces on landing. My skill level with Gas models I would say is intermediate to advanced so I think I could handle a jet. I just want to buy wisely so that I am not put off

Thank you for you help

An F-15 makes an excellent first (scale) jet - as does a Eurosport.

Thanks for that but I think the F15 would be a little big for me to start with

Hello Dave,

do you have any infos about CG?

Now I ordered a Merlin 100.
100N (22lbs) thrust and 1272g (2,8lbs) weight (all included) should be very good.

For those of you who got this Mig-15, were the fuel tanks all conformal or did you recieve one that is rectangular?

I received two conformal and one square. Only going to use the conformal ones.

Each conformal tank holds 1 liter of fuel, so total capacity without header is 2 liters, this is enough for me (jetcat P100) 5 to 6 minutes actual flight time.
Dont want to use the square one, dunno where to place it and would add to much weight

I am using the same turbine - Jetcat P100RX. What paint scheme did you get for yours?
