Things need repeating anyways! The Mig has turned out to be a rare beast, GJC seem to struggle on this one...praying they are going to shock me and turn up at JetPower with a load of kits!

I was asked to appear with this plane at an Invitational fund raiser in Tulsa Oklahoma but all the problems I have had will keep me from participating. I would have been one of many pilots from all over the USA to be invited. I was extremely honored to be invited. The goal is one million dollars raised for charities in the Tulsa OK area http://www.tulsaflightnight.org/

The FAA will close Jones Riverside Airport for one hour and the AMA will coordinate Model Jet Airshow. It s a real shame because all the major model magazines are going to be there as well as RCU and it will be a big advantage for all the manufactures of the models that appear as well as the equipment used in the planes.

Took the lead out and with 22 oz fuel in the forward tank she balances on the fuse seam. That's a CG of 6 3/8" from the trailing edge so I'm adding 2 oz of lead to the nose for good measure... Much better than one pound of lead but the proof will be in the first flight.
thanks for all the help Dave

Thanks George my thinking exactly!!! I'm my mind all fuel is usable but in a perfect flight where everything goes as planned the 22 oz of fuel can used as ballast GJC leaves the modeler with no CG info, or much other info in fact, so the reliance on others and self knowledge is what's left. This is my first swept wing model so the CG is a ? for me. A range is all that would be needed for successful balancing since that would leave the modeler with an idea of how tail heavy the model is. I already know from a previous page that 5 1/2" forward of the trailing edge is too far back so a guess would be to go to 6 1/2"-7" to be safe. That would be a range from the fuse half seam to 15mm forward. Basically the GJC customer service is in the toilet

I'm in Germany and can't remember, but I have a 32oz front tank and hardly get onto in in 10mins of scale flying.
i think I'm at 6.5" but it's really not that fussy it seems and it's nose heavy full off fuel.
you will feel it become lighter on the elevator long before you have an issue

MIG refurbish
Been some time since any posts on this but I thought I would post some pics of my refurbish and paint upgrades to this MIG 15. I picked up one off Mike D for the Scrath and dent price. This one had some pretty bad damage to the wing and nose gear from what appears to have been a hard landing or it came off the runway into gravel.
I spent some time making repairs. Bondo and glossing.
I was was not happy with the color of blue which is all wrong from the factory and whoever had this plane before me used the wrong blue in trying to make a half ass repair. So I got the proper blue from Warbirds colors and started the cleaning up.
